Didn't see this had existed yet.

As a change of pace for recent forum activity, this is a thread to mention a player/players who did something really awesome in the game or impressed you or helped or whatever. This is not a place for white-knighting the game with back handed compliments (Just goes to show how much better the FFXIV community is vs. WoW) or taking digs at stuff you think is flawed in the game (This person helped me get past XYZ, you know, that lazy *** design Yoshi P keeps using over and over). Keep that crap out. I'll go first.

Is the most badass tank I have ever DF with. We did Haukke Manor Hard in 19 minutes. I had no idea you could do it that fast. Maybe its because we had Blmx2 and I believe a Sch who was super on the ball with heals and dps'd at the right times but this guy/girl was a beast. First off, Axious pulled the first demon to the Manor Claviger room and had us AoE everything down (that actually is something I had never seen any tank do before ever). Additionally, before the first boss, Ax pulled the Warden and 3 imps to the Manor Sentry and we burned all that down. The boss was a total joke. However, the second floor was the most badass thing I had seen.

Ax pulled the entire floor up to the Manor Sentry room. Yes, all the side mobs, both Wardens and the 3 imps at the end. I have NO IDEA how Ax survived but it like, wasn't even hard, I don't think Ax dipped below 1k even and we were all freaking out and yelling awesome. I used a lot of expletives about how awesome it was. On the final floor, I don't even remember what was pulled where, I'm not sure it was the entire floor but you know, I wouldn't be surprised, I just remember that second floor because as soon as the healer materialized, Ax ran off and didn't stop until we were at the door.

Anyways, if this is a regular occurrence for HMH and I finally just got a good DF party, oh well, it was still awesome to see. No one since has done anything close and I've even mentioned pulling the Wailer to the first room and got blank stares like I was crazy. Pretty sure Ax got 3 recommendations that night lol. Shaving 15 mins off a run isn't necessarily earth shattering but well...it's almost HALF of what the run normally is so it was a thing of beauty.

Honorable Mention: There is a Blm out there (no name remembered sadly) who showed me as a Blm that you can still sleep and do lockouts on WP and the proper places to Flare and also LB, when I first started out during WP speed runs (having moved on from AK). That holds my best record ever for a speed run at 17 minutes.

Share your props.

I nominate Friggin Joe from Ultros for too many reasons to name.

I wish I would have taken down names, but there are two players out there who totally deserve props...

The other night, I queued up for the high-level duty roulette and, of course, got Pharos Sirius.

Immediately, a DPS disbands.

This is the point when others would usually just disband, but the healer started casting buffs, and the blm suggested we just go for 15 minutes and see if anyone joins. So, off we went. We eventually got to the first boss, and 15 minutes hadn't gone by yet, so we decided to have a go at him with just the three of us (I'm on my pld). First attempt, we died, but we were doing pretty good until the third wave of dogs. With a couple slight strategy adjustments, we tackled the fight again... and totally won!!!!

Rather than disband, we decided to just keep going with the three of us. We were almost to the second miniboss by the time we got a fourth member... but I'm convinced we could have made it all the way to Siren with just the three of us, and who knows if we could have eeked out a win? We were doing pretty good, and having lots of fun.

Anyway, props to that blm and whm for being so adventurous!

I, too, wish I had the memory to recall names or the ability to friends list people I have ran into in DF who were absolutely awesome. I usually remember to at least mention something in party chat if I see a player doing exceedingly well at a role I play.

Let's see if I can recall certain instances...

You know...when I was new to the endgame scene where legacy players were level 50 but few non-legacy players were, I ran AK for the first time. I was undergeared but pulled my own weight. However, being completely new and not doing any research, I had no idea what to expect. I told them this when we entered. None of them left and they all helped me in learning the instance. Surprisingly, we took down demon wall without incident in one shot but the most trouble was found on the last boss. I presume it was a little bit of, "Wow, we're at the last boss...no reason to give up now." and, "Let's help this new guy learn this encounter to promote a more positive community." At any rate, it took us several tries to do the last boss. I was continually ******** up one thing or the other but we eventually got it done and they were patient throughout the entire thing.

Another memory is of CT. I find CT to be a bit boring now that all the strategies have been 'discovered'. I find myself playing in a very chaotic manner just to liven things up. If I die, it is no surprise and I don't blame anyone but myself. For instance, I will often try to tank the skeletons on BLM on bone dragon out of boredom. I've had healers react instantly to me tanking them and wasting cooldowns on me just to keep me alive. It shows dedication to their job: namely, not letting anyone die. The biggest compliment as a DPS, for me, is to have a WHM use benediction on me. A huge cooldown usually reserved for tanks or the other healer.

Really, I'll give props to anyone (now days) who is willing to be patient and teach new players without being a condescending douchebag int he process.

Example: I was doing Titan HM DF last night on my alt's MNK for fun. I was running with a group that was lacking DPS something fierce. I had another geared BLM with me and that was it. I was doing 40% of the damage, the BLM was doing 30%, and the other DPSs were around 15%. >_<

We get to the heart phase and I get gaol'd first. After I get out of gaol, I wait a bit for the esuna that should go off. I don't get it so I ask in party chat, "Esuna please." The WHM blew up at me entirely. Smiley: lol I believe he told me to, "STFU" Incidentally, we did not get the heart down on that run. I wonder why. Smiley: rolleyes It'd be one thing if I had never healed that fight before...but I solo heal it regularly and there isn't any reason you shouldn't be esunaing the top two DPS during such a critical stage.

DF is really a mixed bag. Occasionally, you find one or two people who really make the experience something. Lately I am having trouble finding players who really 'shine' because opportunities to do so are pretty low. :(

For me, it's someone called Phys Ics on Ultros, plus a variety of members from his/her FC. At the moment I've got 4 relics, 2 of which Phys and the FC helped me through Titan HM with. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I find Titan difficult personally these days (a lot of failed runs and practice tempered my ability to predict him), but these guys were so awesome that the clears seem to come with minimal effort, and in both instances, no deaths at all. So props to Phys for organising/inviting me to the pts, the FC members who assisted, and my RL brother (Rionvah Autriarche) for also being part of both runs, GJ guys/gals ^^
