Glamours system requires level 50Follow

Why? More strange decisions from an increasingly aloof development team...

Here's a riddle for you guys:

What's the difference between preludes and LucasNox?

there isn't any.

#3REDACTED, Posted: Mar 20 2014 at 7:20 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I'm guessing you're making some sort of joke but as I do not understand it, I'm not offended... please stay on topic. I'm not sure why this system shouldn't be available for low level players or alt characters.

You will play through the game as intended and then you can do whatever you want. There's nothing else to it. Same case with the main story.

Good job on the faux-outrage though. Is this another case of people who aren't even affected by this decision "responding" on the forums? Time will tell, but so far so good.
#5REDACTED, Posted: Mar 20 2014 at 7:36 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) No outrage, I just asked "why?"

omg we can't use this system for the first two months of playing?

oh wait, this doesn't effect me (or you either)

nvm

This only concerns me when they release a new class and I can't put my AF on till I'm 50....which will take a week if I go slow

/shrug
#8REDACTED, Posted: Mar 20 2014 at 7:40 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The enjoyment of new players is very important to the survival of an MMORPG. Not to mention you could just think about other people besides yourself on some basic level.

So... why? Just seems like a strange restriction. I know plenty of people who just chat and dress up and never leveled to 50. This is exactly the system that they wanted and they're probably going to be pretty upset.

What does playing "as intended" mean to you?

SE has designed the gear model progression to follow a set pattern. During the playthrough they want you to follow said pattern. Afterwards they have no objections to giving you more freedom as to how to dress up.

But thank you for making a fuss on these people's behalf who probably are going to be pretty upset maybe who knows.

You know you are correct about that. New players need to have fun too. However, they don't get to look however they want before level 50 because they haven't earned it and that's that.

This feature is yet another incentive to level to 50.

I really feel bad for all the people who aren't going to be able to use this system which has been talked about for at least a year with no mention of a level 50 requirement.

A new player has more to worry about the Glamours. That and they wont have anything worth using it ON.

Yeah, well I know a certain mother in her 40's who likes to log in to her female Lalafell and RP in Ul'dah from time to time. She's going to be really upset that she can't use this. She's been talking my ear off about it forever... I can just hear her disappointment now when I have to tell her about the level restrictions...

"Lucas, Lucas! Let's go unlock the new Glamours system!" while her little Lalafell body trembles with excitement. /sigh

Sadly, with her busy job (and she's struggly to get by) and two children who are still in school, I doubt that she'll be able to get to level 50...

Hmm, sounds like you just described a scenario where the systems causes you participate in a fun co-op activity and help her level to 50.

Omg, you just turned the system into Content!

I would have helped her get to level 50 by now if her schedule allowed it. Meh, it just sucks because there's actually a lot of people in-game like her. They just don't really bother anyone and they do their own thing so it's easy to forget that they're there, and they're real.

It must break her heart like at the time when she found out you need to level to 30 to unlock white mage and to be able to call your chocobo to fight alongside you.

This game is just evil on those poor mothers in their 40's who want access to every feature at level 1.

You don't have to make fun of her. I already linked to her to this thread because I didn't think there was going to be any drama. Please delete your post before she clicks the link on Skype.

I know player that ONLY crafts. She's seems to somehow magically be available too whenever I need meld or two.

Does DoH count to unlock it?

Not sure if the quest listed requires combat. Or how exactly you buy Glamour prisms, with Tomes?

Anyway, perhaps this will be the incentive some players need to level up and subsequently participate in other group activities at level 50.

You are telling us what kind of a person she is just to prove your argument and I am stating things based off that information alone. The real issue here is that you act as if would know what she thinks of this game or what kind of a person she is. What a horrible thing to do.

You have brought this on yourself.

Just forget it, she already read your post. Just drop it. You're bullying others. Go back to the topic discussion which is: "level 50. Why?"

See, here's how you should have started your post, LucasNox:

"So why aren't we able to use this at level 50? WoW allows you to use it at any level and Yoshida apparently says FFXIV ARR uses WoW as a model."

Here's what you did instead:

"But but but think of the children! Or at least the 40 year old woman I know who may or may not want this."

I understand why WoW does it: because you can level a 'twink' character for PVP brackets and lock your exp in that particular bracket. Also, previous content that was under a certain cap (MC/BWL/Naxx at 60, TBC crap at 70, WotLK at 80, etc) could be farmed before reaching the current level cap and you could use transmog on it then.

Also, to extend the duration of a game that has been running a long time. You know transmog. is a a feature that came in 4.3, right? Guess which expansion that came with.

Neither of these problems currently persist in 14.
#22REDACTED, Posted: Mar 20 2014 at 8:36 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I would appreciate it if the bullying stopped. You actually might even know her Hitome. Can't think of a mom on our server who really wanted Glamours?
#23 Mar 20 2014 at 8:44 AM Rating: Good
At worst we are making fun of you, LucasNox. This "bullying" farce is more amusing to watch than your sad attempt of a faux-outrage though.

Uh.

If her schedule allows her to RP in Ul'dah.... why doesn't it allow her to level to 50? It surely can't be that hard to do a DF once per day?

Because the glamours drop from CT and it's a level 50 dungeon. You can't wear the gear before you can equip it. Pretty standard for video gaming period.

Troll harder dim bulb.

Too long didn't read version:

Yoshi himself said the game starts at end game, like every other generic MMO, so this should be of no surprise.
