This just isn't the game for me. Follow

#1 Feb 20 2014 at 8:35 AM Rating: Sub-Default
I was cheaped into buying this game half off for steam and what I can say is this. its the only available MMO for me that isn't f2p garbage. Even so its not far from garbage itself, I'm just not the person who can stay in this game for long. I don't work a job, I don't live under a rock. I can afford real games, I don't have time for countless people who I don't really know. When I play an MMO I read everything, if the story is filler it hurts my brain.
But its the only thing available to me, I'm stuck in this shotty environment, none of my real life friends even consider this game relevant to exist. There is nothing that I can relate to in this game. people tell me I have the right to leave but I have no right. I already invested too much into this game. I'm stuck here on a leash, waiting for ESO to pull me out. why would SE create such a hateful unforgiving world? i've played this game since launch and I am still stuck in the middle of the game. Theres no incentive to beating this game, all I can do is be around until my subscription is over....

Seriously planning on ESO pulling you in?

*glances at all the ESO beta reviews*

Good luck with that!

A few friends of mine who have been playing TESO beta have said that they see the bones of a good game in there, they really do, but until they do something about the current play dough textures I can't stand to look at it.

I'm just wondering what I've been playing and enjoying so much since late last year if this isn't a "real game"

Beta reviews for XIV weren't great so your point isn't so... pointy? Smiley: sly

Seems funny to me that the OP feels leashed to the game like they don't have other options. If you have that big a chip for F2P games then you only have two options:
Stop being a cheap-*** or suck it up.

In extreme cases such as yours, perhaps a little of both...

Actually, the beta reviews for XIV were actually pretty good, as were the launch reviews.

The pre-beta speculation articles weren't that great, though.

We talking 1.0 or ARR here? And let's remember the 1.0 forums, but but but, it's only Beta, they wouldn't release something like this!

Short term memory loss? 3102 and 90k. Many players not being able to login at all and those who did get in not being able to get out because there was no connection timeout. It may not have affected you, but the forums were flooded with negative feedback from players.

Beta got a bit of a pass because people expected problems to be fixed by launch, but the beta was too short and too close to launch to do anything about it.

Hahaha! He said ESO guys.

ARR is nowhere near the trash you're referring to it as. You're entitled to your opinion I suppose, but the game has gotten fantastic reviews and quite a few people play it.

I have no idea what on earth this is supposed to mean. You don't work a job, but you can afford real games. You don't live under a rock, but you act out like a troll.

Ummm ... MMO's are filled with people you don't know. Maybe you were wanting a single player game?

wemelchor wrote:

That's nice, but you don't say anything about ARR's story here, so this was useless information.

You're not stuck... you just have to log out.

Sorry, but i laughed a bit when i read "Hateful" and "Unforgiving". Really?

#19REDACTED, Posted: Feb 21 2014 at 1:44 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) OP here. part of my ******** was the fact that I got the game on maintenance night. I've had a chance to play it on PC and from what I can say it is a DECENT MMO however. there are still problems mainly with the playerbase. The game is meant for hundreds and Ultros is just empty. the game is empty and it makes the game less enjoyable for me. ESO may be cancer but if it holds a good audience number [same with runescape] its MMO purpose is better achieved. I'm taking the time to apply to linkshells so it might dispel the problem.

We're still talking about ARR, right?

My server is pretty packed. You won't find locust-style FATE parties as often in the lowbie areas, but the servers are still full.

You could easily get to endgame if you're already in the mid-levels... even without locust FATE swarming, mid-game isn't at all unforgiving. Braflox Longstop can be pretty hateful though.

Technically, no. 3102 was a problem well before the beta started. I didn't mention it happening earlier because the topic was only beta. I don't recall if 90k was an issue people were also having during 1.0, but it was present in ARR beta and through launch just as 3102 was.

I've heard a thousand times that "Beta testing is for stressing the server and finding bugs for the dev team to fix". I agree with this 100%, but they didn't leave nearly enough time between beta and launch to iron out the problems which is why it didn't serve it's purpose. Not a failure by any means, but definitely not a positive.

I play on Ultros and the game is never empty when I'm playing. Either this guy is playing at six o'clock in the morning or is full of it.

Fate swarming is the cancer of MMOs period. I'm walking walking in Ceorthas, no mounts, no teleports, no instances and I'm having a blast. its just the way this mmos was designed. content everywhere! riding a mount threw this game is not the way to go.
