I thought I'd start a thread for those purchasing the PS4 version of Final Fantasy XIV to note changes, additions and fixes.

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.

Well, for instance, if you're playing the PS3 version, you can upgrade to the PS4 version pretty smoothly. Everything will be carried over and you'll be able to pick up where you left off. Only catch is, once you transfer from PS3 to PS4 you can't go back. (But you wouldn't want to anyway) just trying to compile a bunch of stuff for anyone who wants to know so it's all in one spot :)

So I normally play on PC, i have a very nice machine but its about 2 years old now with the exception of the video card. Recently with the acquisition of my taxes I needed to upgrade my wives computer. She lags so bad she has lost excitement. She decided that I should get the new computer, yay me! and she would take my old. So where am I going with this?

On spec'ing out parts I remember I had also purchased the PS3 version and just could not get used to the controls on it, i missed my mouse and keyboard. Some things like gathering and... gathering I was ok with doing on it but other than that I just get lost. Props to those that are good at it, but its just not me. So here lies my dilemma, Do i spend 1.5k on a new computer or do i get a PS4 and take the chance that the graphics and such just aren't were i want them to be. And yes when all was said and done the computer was about 1.5k, I wasn't going to get something that would work, i wanted something that will always work on Extreme settings for anything I want to play in the next few years.

I ended up the PC, after pondering for a few hours I just couldnt take that chance. The PS4 would of just been for FFXIV for the most part, I'm not a huge console gamer and Xbox One is pretty sweet in the living room. Someday I'll get a PS4 but until then i'll be anxiously reading the reviews for how this games runs on it.

Well I believe the PS4 works with mouse and KB and is on spec with a pretty high end computer. Should be no issues with graphics.

Yea i read that, I have high hopes for it really. I just couldn't decide prior to its release. What SE says and what SE does isn't always on the same page. if the interface when using mouse/keyboard are like the same as PC i think it will be a no brainer upgrade for a lot of people and will definitely help PS4 sales, when they are in stock anyways :)

I have a similar setup; 95% of the time on PC and 5% just "playing around" on PS3. I did plenty of crafting on ps3, and some of the main story time sink quests, but nothing like a dungeon run.

That was before this weekend, where I "forced" myself to play PS3 only to get used to it (again) before this weekends ps4 beta.
I was SHOCKED at how well it worked in CT, and I did at least a 1/2 dozen runs. I actually liked running CT with just the controller setup AFTER I got used to it (took one run)

PS: PS3 fully supports keyboard/mouse setup too, you need to disable "direct chat" to get the keyboard working for anything other then chatting (such as ASDW movement)

Except for it doesn't let you have extra hot bars on screen during controller based play.

Hopefully PS4 will. The PC User Interface has a number of extra perks that I fully expect the PS4 to have. I will be disappointed if it does not.

I'm purchasing for the PS4. I've played MMOs on the PC but I've never played any Final Fantasy games ever on either so either way it's going to be new to me :)

Not sure if it was mentioned elsewhere, but the PS4 Beta is available for download. Downloaded mines without any issues yesterday.
