Hello everyone,

I don't often do this but I had a really cool experience last night and I thought I'd share.

I, for all reasons idiotic, clicked the duty finder button for Titan HM last night at three in the morning on my summoner. It is my last primal to go and I am a little anxious to get it over with so I can start on the scholar quest. Got my tomes saved up and everything. Anyway, three thirty in the morning, get to my inn room, gonna call the aesthetician and the little titan window pops up. I click it.

I see a dragoon in all AF2 with a relic, all the dps with 3800-4500 hp, both healers with 3800-4200 hp, tanks both warriors with 6000+. I'm thinking, ok, not bad. I don't think the bard had ever beat titan, a few people commented on being bored, others meant to click on titan ex. Anyway, they all were there and all decided to go for it.

And we one shot it. Smiley: eek One shot in a random duty finder at three in the morning. Bard got hit by a landslide mid heart and died off cliff, I rezzed and picked up a healer at 10%, the other healer dropped at 3%, but we finished it off. I'm really convinced now that summoner is OP. I'm throwing Shadow Flare aoe, Miasma/BioII/Bio with my boy Fester, Enkindle and Spur on my controller based un-micromanaged pet, Virus, Rezzing people, throwing Ruin/RuinII on stuff, there is a lot to do and it feels like I never run out of mana. I still love blm, but I was really surprised what I could do with SMN.

But we one shot titan in the duty finder. Smiley: blush Thats like lotto winning stuff right there. I didnt even have my keyboard plugged in, so all I could do is type "nice!" on my controller, lol. I got a commendation for it too, lol, probably random. It kept me up another hour, couldnt get to sleep after that, felt like my first win all over again. Kept thinking, how the hell, what are the odds. I settled on this reasoning: Well it was 3 in the morning, only the most dedicated are on then, not too many people on so the bandwidth is clear (only a little latency) and the duty servers are empty. Probably the best time to run it, assuming you are still awake.

Anyway just thought I'd share my story. Keep hope alive, duty finder came through for me.

Thats awsume.
I think people that play later have less issues with the stuff in the game.. Most of the kids got school the next day and are in bed. In the other thread I know alot of the people who say they dont see the issues and most play later..

Titan really is one of those fights, where if everyone can dodge, you can get by with i55gear and weapon no issues. We had 4 bards for dd yesterday and 2 whm to heal and a single blm. Everyone dodged every bomb, land slide, plume and 3.3k hp was more than enough for the healers. We ended up not needing to lb the heart, which was good because we barely had 1 bar, and blm lb with 1 bar on titan doesnt do much.

It truly is a thing of beauty when you get a group of people that know their shiz. Now i have Brd/pld/war/mnk/whm relics and sch/smn/lnc with titan weapons, and i think i might be done....but then ocd kicks in and says 'ah, 3 more relics for title....must fight urdge'

Running this stuff with a static of people who are known dodgers vs pugs were people say they can dodge then mid fight you hear 'what!!!! i was out of that'...and you try 5 more times and every time the same thing, the same 2 people were 'totally out of it omg' and it turns out they were just mid spell and tried to finish up a group cure instead of gtfo the plumes.

I will say, if you treat titan hm, like titan ex, and stack on his butt, plumes are so easy, and it really shows who is paying attention and who isnt.

Gratz on your titan kill, i got mine at 11pm cst last night with a pf group set to ilevel 55 ;-p

I had kind of a similar thing on Tuesday - not nearly as exciting as Titan HM, but the same sort of feeling all the same.

Earlier in the evening a tank friend and a bard friend and I went exploring in AK, since the tank and I needed AK for our relic quest and the bard had never done it before. For us it was meant to be a learning run, so I feel bad for the DPS we snagged off DF since we lost to Demon Wall like ten times and then timed out on the last boss.

After they logged off, I still had a bit of energy left and I needed Qarn to knock out a quest and some of my hunting log. I flagged up for Qarn in DF, forgetting that I had been the one to take us into AK earlier on.

Well, Duty Finder dutifully sorted me into AK.

Turned out I'd hooked up with a trio that was there to speed run, with the tank in full Coil gear and nearly 8000 HP. They were pros, and we were done with AK in about twenty minutes. (I was just grateful I'd snagged my Darklight Cowl ten minutes before flagging up so I didn't look too noobish!)

I'm now on Ifrit HM and I'm kind of nervous. I hope my experience in DF matches yours...

Ifrit hm aint bad in DF... You just need people to beat the nails after that most people can die and still beat it.. I did this one pretty many times. Beat it with DF about 50 percent. You will run into a few bad parties though.

Garuda HM as long as tanks do their jobs right is a breeze.

I am a healer like you. I would actually farm garuda or ifrit for the weapon it will help in titan or better yet the king moogle fight for the weapon, this fight aint too bad.

Titan HM is a different story party because of lag.

I beat Titan HM last night without dying. First time for everything, I guess. Bard sure makes it easier!

Good to hear the DF is treating you well. Hope you have luck meeting a network of cool people to run with on your new server.

I completely agree that SMN is an awesome class. It has been my main since day one and I love how flexible it can be. There have been a few situations I can remember where I thought to myself "if I were any other class, the party likely would have wiped". Does that make it overpowered? Eh... Maybe Smiley: wink

The most recent example is from Tuesday when I ended up in HM HM via duty roulette. Standard 4 man party. We had all done it before and were well geared. We made it to the second boss without any issues. Then, unfortunately, due to some poor timing/positioning the WHM dropped to the 2nd boss. Tank still had decent HP left but the BLM had one of the adds on him and was dropping fast. I managed to physik his HP back to a safe level, Swiftcast raise the WHM and top up the tank while he was getting back on his feet. If we didn't have a summoner in that group we easily could have wiped. The rest of the run went off without a hitch and the WHM was the only death.

Also, there have been a few times where I have had to pull out a Swiftcast Titan after a tank has dropped. This usually allows the WHM enough freedom to get the tank back up and the other DPS still has the ability to keep up the fight. I have done a couple of the easier 50 dungeons with the FC without a tank at all - just let Titan handle it and bring in an extra DPS. Currently my Titan sits at 7.9k HP and is great at holding single target threat, has a stun ability, and his Enkindle is no joke either.

This doesn't even touch on the utility of Shadowflare (slow is great!), Virus, Eye for an Eye etc.

TLDR; SMN is awesome!

Good luck with Ifrit! The Nails hit at 50%, you should have a blm or summoner lb3 them if you have it built up. But you can lb2 and kill them off manually if you need to. That is really the make or break point there.

But I've probably beat Titan HM about 25-30 times now, all but two were on black mage (one was on my summoner and one was on my paladin). I just never see duty finder parties who can automatically coordinate like that during the day when the inexperienced are in masse and the latency is high. It surprised me that I even found a group running that late, never mind that we ripped it up in one shot Smiley: grin

Love Titan egi, he is my boy =D. Love that swiftcast/rez. It is essential to have that blm leveled. On my ifrit win on my summoner I successfully rezzed seven people, lol. And that battle in HM HM with Ash is probably one of my favorites Smiley: nod

Bard is awesome as well! I picture myself having a very easy time on titan knowing i can run and attack at the same time.

Lamia is good, got invites to a few endgame linkshells, apparantly I am one of two guys on the server with a elder staff Smiley: tongue. Lamia is like Ultros pre 2.1. Good people though, they are just sorted into their groups and finding their compound is hard. My FC is set up now, 6 strong, good people, friends of friends and old FFXI and Halo 2 buddies. They are all relatively low level (only one besides me even has a level 50) but we are working on it. Cultivating. The slowing down and escaping the rat race is nice. I sub in coil statics now and am leveling alts, I like it Smiley: nod. Plus, the FC houses are half the price over here than they are on Ultros, and the goods are globally selling for about 3 to 4 times higher than they are on Ultros. I bought up a bunch of cheap stuff before I left Ultros, sold it over here, and because the supply is so low due to the low population, i made a good chunk of change, about 1/4 to 1/3 of what a small FC house would cost. Now if only we could hit rank 6, lol (we are halfway to 2).

You know, that change of pace does sound refreshing! Sounds like a lot of groups are going to benefit greatly from your experience. It's incredibly rewarding to help people get past things that have been blocking their progress. Glad to hear it's working out for you. Sounds like your willingness to adjust to the situation is allowing you to maximize your fun!

You know, my FC is suffering under lack of leadership. Only one officer bothers to log in any more... We've decided that if our FC leader doesn't make it on and promote someone in the next week or too, we're gonna bolt elsewhere. (We're SPIN.)

Might you be up for a merger of sorts if things don't work out for us? We're also a combo of XI veterans and a few RL friends of mine.

I had a similar experience on my BLM, I had already beaten Titan for my relic, but I qued up in the DF for ***** and giggles, just cause I think its a fun fight, Got into a group with a Paladin and a Marauder who had qued up together just for the extra DPS, ended up being a breeze and we one shotted him. Always nice when the stars align and you get that perfect group that all works together.

Congrats on your win!

Nooo Valk don't stray from the BLM path. T_T We BLMs have to stick together!

Grats on your relic. Pretty damn cool story. Never seen a DF group one shot it before.

I know, me neither, which is why it was so freaky and post worthy.

Blm is still my main ilvl 90, and always will be my main until blue mage releases =D.

But I also have a lvl 80 paladin (think im stopped on him for a bit), and I figured I would level summoner since my entire blm suit is allagan. When the ACN hit 50, my summoner was ilvl 86 lol. Think my Scholar is ilvl 60 as well. I run the scholar on CT, healing is pretty fun there.

But I have been leveling warrior as well and am pleasantly surprised at how OP it is. I'm also working on bard. I like to be prepared for anything.
