I bet the price of all the HQ crafting AF and materia is about to shoot up. Time to horde and play the MB.

If I were to guess, I'd say there's going to be some new craftable iLvl 80-90ish gear. Since they are adding new tomestones, there's probably going to be new sets in the 100s to farm in the new endgame areas they're adding.

Glad I just invested in melding out a single set of HQ patrician's rather than getting the AF after culinarian.

This depends on if the new recipes still require the same/old crafting caps or if they make the new recipes higher. That alone is the reason why I did not try to make an all-in-one set.

You know that current crafting gear wont be able to make next tier of i80/90 gear right? Weather its af or generic set, neither will work is my bet.

You will need to make new af+1 crafting gear that is i70, and meld the crap out of that to make the new i80/90 gear.

Yeah, but with weaver 50 I can make my own bridge gear for each job if I need to. Smiley: nod

You are so damn adorable if you think Yoshi wants crafting viable in his instance grind game.

My guess is we will get recipes for more easily obtained level 70 gear. That will help players vault into endgame content without needing to spam AK and WP... Though those dungeons will still have their places in roulette. We will see.

Didn't they say crafting will be key to the vanity system? Maybe making other people adorable will be what I'm doing.

I don't think this will be the case at all. I think you'll need better stats, maybe some melds, at worst case people who did it all with Patrician's might be in trouble. I expect the new crafter AF will be part of the expansion, not a patch 6 months in.

That's a good point! With the vanity system in place people will be looking at all available gear in a variety of colors to meet their personal style preference.. For one, I am going to want a Vanya Hat and Robe for myself, where I never felt the need to buy them before. They sure do look cool.

Probably exactly what will happen since they cant make crafting viable, ever.

What would be the point of making more ilvl70 gear (from new materials), when;

1) The old gear can be made for less than 20k if you buy materials, or free if you farm them up.
2) New materials will cost hundreds of thousands of gil, for no apparent stat advantages on the new gear since it would be ilvl70 too.
3) Completely disregarding that you can farm up a complete set of Ilvl.70 gear for free with just a few hours total of work due to 300 from one Duty Roulette, 200 tomes from a 20 minute CT and 100 from just spamming the usual suspects.
4) and most importantly, everyone should/could already have at the very least half a set of ilvl90 gear simply from Myths alone. And ilvl80 from CT.

Crafting ilvl70 isnt going to make anyone happy anymore. And even freshly dinged 50's can farm up the Philo's for a free set without effort. Easier than they can farm up the 60k the current crafted pieces cost individually, or the 3-400k the new pieces will go for in the first month.

SE could "fix" crafting even a tiny little bit by making us able to craft ilvl90 stuff at the very least, but even that wont solve the price crashes on the materials or the faulty completely visible transactions Market Board that they chose to use for XIV 2.0.

Feb 22? Are they really going to bring the servers down on a Saturday for a patch?

Looking that way ><

It's PS4 release in Japan, and beta here. Maybe their Saturdays are like our Tuesdays for new release stuff.

Still amusing to this day that, according to Tanaka, while 1.0's engine was supposedly superior it apparently couldn't do this little thing that's kinda existed in every MMO I've known (including FFXI).

I love ARR, but really wish I had stuck with it and played throughout 1.0 even if just so my appreciation for ARR would have been even better.

I think these new "advanced" recipes are going to be a consumable that lets you "skin/reskin" your gear. This imho is the only way you can make crafting relevant again.

Finally, I don't have to chose between fast spiritbonding, and getting HQs off trivial synths. (At least, I hope that's how it works.)

My WHM loves this. The focus target makes an enormous difference to checking enemy debuffs and abilities while I'm targetting the tank, and while I usually use <mo> by hovering over the party list, this will make healing random people (e.g. non-party players amd NPCs) much more reliable.

I crave this every time I want to mark fishing holes I can't access yet.

Personally, I like that trade off and I think it should stay that way. I would rather see higher stats greatly reduce or eliminate failures during quick synthesis.

I would rather it instantly quick synth at the current success rate. AKA i tell it to make 100 dew threads and BOOM done, cause i can do careful syntheis 2 spaming for 2x the exp and 100% success rate if i want to, so even with this change you still get less exp, slightly higher success rate then previouslly but still not the 100% you would have manually, and it still takes just as long.

I can say from personal experience that I have been buying up an HQ iLvl70 weapon for a newly minted 50 job if just to be able to handle the content until a relic or some equivalent turns up in my inventory. I think it's worth the investment since I usually have about 200k on my character to spend by then.

However, right now, iLvl70 armor tends to be expensive considering Darklight is so easy to get. I'll just buy up some cheap iLvl55 gear here and there, instead, just to tie me over until the replacements are forthcoming.

Aww, no more crafting mats in the FC house hot tub. Oh well, maybe there won't be as many fails. Since SE is going to force us to use our full crafting gearset while quick synthing, hopefully they'll reduce the amount of gear wear.
