Newbie Crafting QuestionFollow

I was reading in one of the other threads that one of the strategies to get through levels 1-15 of the each of the crafts is to just use the "turn-in" items. Can someone explain what these are and where I find them? Are these just the initial quests that you are given (i.e. distilled water for alchemist)?

Thanks in advance!

They're probably referring to the leves where you craft a certain something and turn them in and get exp for them. You can read about those here. It's helpful to have a decently leveled gathering class so you can get HQ items to try to make HQ things, however rare that can be at lower levels.

These are Levequests issued by attendants usually found close to the inn. You spend Leve Allowances in exchange for repeatable quests, many of which require you to turn in a specific kind of item you can make or buy in exchange for a chunk of Experience points and Gil.

Leve Allowances can build up to 100, and build up by 3 every 12 hours. Hitting Shift+U during play will open the timer window which will display the remaining time till the next allowances are replenished.

If you follow main scenario quests these should open up for you somewhere between level 10 and level 15. At which point you can use them on any of the jobs and classes you have unlocked, or will unlock.

You can go from level 1 to about level 12 just making one of each item in the recipe book without ever touching levequests. Those early recipes all use ingredients that you can either buy directly from the guild supplier NPC or make yourself out of stuff sold by the guild supplier NPC (i.e. you don't have to worry about buying stuff off of the market board or farming / gathering any of the ingredients).
