Don't see a thread on this so I thought I'd post - there is a new NVidia driver published on 01/07/14 and with it an Optimization profile for FFXIV ARR in GE Force Experience. 
Sweeeeet need to get this on the laptop and give it a test drive.

The optimizing actually made my game worse. The load times increased to like 4 minutes just to log on.

that's the optimization, planned cancellations due to frustration ;)

The optimized settings are a guess from settings of people similar to you. There were some weird trade offs for me with a mobile GPU, like all settings to low but then AA to highest and DOF and crap... I run all settings on high with DOF on low and AA on like bi-4 or maybe it's 2... 40+ FPS is plenty enough for me and the game still looks great.
