Contact a GM?Follow

Hello all, I had some issues yesterday and needed to contact a GM, but couldn't find a way to do it.

I filled out a form under contact us for bug reports... that was the closest I could come to finding out how to contact a GM in-game.

I called their customer service, and after 30+ minutes on hold finally spoke to someone, and he tells me that he can't help with in-game stuff, I need to talk to a GM, but there's no clear way to do so.

Anyone else had to deal with this? I'm wondering how to resolve this issue.

I had a piece of gear fall into my inventory from Crystal Tower without giving me the chance to pass on it... it's for a Bard so I can't even use it on my Dragoon... I did not roll on it at all... it just popped into my inventory.

Anyways now I'm loot-locked for a week and apparently I need a GM to help me... it's very frustrating.

Any advice would be welcomed....

Thanks!

And GM's will either tell you to use customer service again, or will inform you that they cannot help you regarding mistakes made which are not the cause of game faults or violations.

In your case, not noticing there was loot and not passing on it in time (since gear doesnt drop from the sky in Crystal Tower).

It happens, people have made mistakes before, i too rolled on a piece of gear i realized i didnt want right after i wasted my roll on it, unable to pass. Nothing GM's can do about it. Best (Only) thing they can do if it's a game-fault (note: not having the option to pass after Need/Greed is a feature, not a fault, though we might feel it is) is a rollback to an earlier save. Which will eliminate all progress, money, exp, items, etc obtained since. But with this, yeah, they cant help you. Sorry.

So ya, welcome to the Failboat. We will be departing from Success Town shortly and will be arriving in Suckville by dinner.

A friend of mine had that happen too, but his dropped to him at the end, everyone in is party left instant the fight ended, he watched the CS and ended up with the loot dropping to him because there was nobody left in the instance, I would be super pissed if that was me!

Even so, GM response would take longer than 7 days, making it irrelevant at that point.

Basically this is your own fault and GMs will do nothing about it.

You were given the option to roll or pass, and if you chose to do neither, by default you get the item if everyone else passes. It was stated to work like this in the patch notes, and this is like the umpteen millionth thread about it. They only way they would do something, is if you clicked pass, and it still went into your inventory, which would be a bug.

Morale of the story, make sure you pass if you dont want an item, and dont watch cut scenes at the end when party members are leaving the instance.

I hate CTs loot system and it needs to be abolished, or the loot lock out needs to be per boss, so there is incentive to run it more than until you get your 1 item.

Regardless of Hairspray's specific reason to contact a GM, I agree it needs to be easier than this.

Actually I was never given the option to pass... it just fell into my inventory... I was dead on the floor of the last boss, i waited to see if i would get a raise before home pointing... never did, so i home pointed after the last boss died...

I had the item in my inventory by the time I had finished zoning.

I don't know how that was my fault, but okay, I guess I will try not to die in CT ever again or else I'll get screwed... maybe I should have just home pointed earlier, but I though that would be rude in case they needed me.

Well you know, everyone here is an EXPERT and there couldn't possibly be a way of you getting loot that you didn't mean Smiley: wink

Trust me I'd rather deal with the "EXPERT"s here than the ones on other forums. I have thick skin but I feel like you're asking for punishment to ask a question anywhere else... lol.

There is no reason to be such an *** about it. You had no idea the circumstances when you posted. Now he's explained and I'd say that's a pretty legitimate gripe. How about showing some sympathy instead of just making assumptions that it's his fault. Sheesh.

Sorry this happened Meat, I'm not really sure how to contact a GM. I'm guessing maybe one of the other contact options other than "Report a Bug" might get you someone, but then again, SE's customer service is notoriously terrible, so you might just be SoL. That just sucks.

While I am not claiming to be an expert wint (sarcasm not appreciated), I have seen this TONS of times since the launch of CT. About every week we have to explain to 1 or 2 people PER RUN that if they get an item by auto drop, then they are locked out, so all those mnks not passing on brd belts, gratz on wasting your i80 loot for the week.

To the OP:
You waited, and all of your party passed or zoned out on an item before you had a chance to see if you wanted it or not, so by default you got the item by being the only person who didnt pass. Stinks, but thats the way its coded. ( i dont like it, it doesnt make sense to me, but thats the way they stated they wanted it to work)

Do i think getting a hold of a gm in FF14 should be easier? Hell yes, SE has terrible customer support
Do I think a gm will do anything for you? Nope, and like others stated it will be 7+ days by the time they get back to you

I didn't wait... I was never given the option to pass...

It's kind of weird that they are basically going to ***** the last person who passes in an instance that locks you out on gear for a week... This is a bad bug and needs to be fixed... I don't think I did anything to deserve this at all.

If you disagree then that's your prerogative as Bobby Brown said.

Thanks for the reply anyways.

I dont even bother asking questions here anymore. Google search doesn't have an ego to maintain like some people here seem to. It's not as bad as other places but why put up with it when you don't have to?

Its not a bug its how its worked since loot started dropping in FFXIV, its how its always been.

What i said before is still true now, sorry if seems like I am being an ***, but this mechanic is not new. I dont like it, and with an instance that locks you out of loot, it needs to be changed, but it is not a bug, this is how it has always worked, people just didnt care/didnt notice because at worst you got stuck with some random WP gear that you tossed later.

Sorry you got boned dude, but with SE's customer support, you aren't gonna get it handled before a weekly reset.

What was described sounds exactly like a bug to me. How is a dead person supposed to pass on something? So it's his fault he waited in hopes of getting a raise? What if he was somewhere specific before CT popped and wanted to remain there after it ended instead of having to Home Point? If it was simply that he forgot to pass that would be one thing (although still a stupid system). But he was dead, and everyone else bailed. You shouldn't get punished for that and definitely sounds like something a GM might fix... but as was said, probably not within the 7 days, so unfortunately it would be pointless.

The lot/pass menu should appear on your screen even if you're dead. XI had that problem, too. Only way to lot/pass while dead was a Windower plugin.

you are a 100% correct, and that is how yoshi will explain it too. Thing is, it was like this since launch, but no one gave a shiz because there were no loot lock outs. Which also means that a gm wont do anything unless yoshi makes a coment about it and says it is 'a bug', which more than likely wont happen.

Honestly, 2.2 will probably just contain a 'fix' so that even if everyone passes/drops the instance, you still get the full 120s to lot before it auto falls to a person. Your best bet is honestly to just post on the official forums (ER MEH GAWD) in the feed back section, and hope it gets noticed so the issue can be addressed, but I sure wouldn't hold my breath for a gm to reset my loot lock out (if they even can, which is even more doubtful, since they dont reset peoples coil status when trolls trick people into locking into t5.

I would actually LOVE to tell them about this issue in the official forums, but I have not been able to post anything there for a while.... (Not that I feel I'm missing much)...

Here's what I see when I try to post something:

Hairspray, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

But I know this account was able to post back when the game first launched... Did I get banned somehow? I never saw anything from them about being banned from the forums, and I would have no idea why I would get banned I never posted anything I think was inflammatory.

Seems like it might have been a bug after all. Or else just a really stupid oversight by them. Either way, it's clearly not working as intended.

As a BLM...I ended up with Bard pants at the end of my first CT run...

I was in the final cut scene...everyone else left...my reward was some nice pants.

Lucky me.
