Teach me how to macroFollow

#1 Dec 30 2013 at 8:48 PM Rating: Decent
I'm trying to learn SCH but everyone says in order to be good I have to use the macro
So when I go to macro it says
Name- so guessing it wants me to call it something
Now the other part I don't get
Do I type all this in 1 macro or separately
/macroicon Physick
/ac Phisick <t>
/pac Embrace <t>
Someone posted this to try and help me but I don't understand it

Basically what it's doing is using the icon for Physick and creating a short 2-step chain of actions, where you cast physick on <t>, which stands for currently selected target, and your pet does the same with Embrace.

You type it in one macro, on three separate lines. For stuff that targets you, you use the term <me>. You can also designate party members by using <p#> where the # is anything from 1 to 8.

Search the official Lodestone site for more macro information. They have a lot of different commands you can throw in to do interesting stuff.

A few final notes; every new action needs to be put on it's own line. Actions that have one word just need to be written exactly as the skill name is displayed, i.e. /ac Physick <t>. Actions with more than one word require quotes around the name of the skill, i.e. /ac "Eye for an Eye" <t>, but otherwise follow the same rules for spelling and needing a separate line of it's own and all that.

If you use the /wait command, the timer uses whole numbers, in seconds. So /wait 5 would work, but /wait 5.5 would not.

Using another macro replaces the last macro used as far as /wait goes. So if you have a macro that you use with a /wait command, and then you use another macro before the first macro finishes, the first macro won't finish.

If you could give me a link to the macros that would be very helpful. Thank you in advance for telling me a little about it

Here's the page I used to get started with macros. It is a long read, and doesn't cover everything, but it's a great place to start.

A quick note on /macroicon: if you want to use it for a Pet ability, you have to do:
/macroicon "Whispering Dawn" Pet

I spent an hour last night being frustrated because I couldn't get this to work. I stumbled upon someone's macro file in a pastebin and saw this format.

I posted an explanation for you over there.

Yes you stick all that in one macro. Make each line separate (it should be copy-pastable). Name it whatever you like and choose the icon by clicking on the tan looking box next to the macro name.

You can use macros wherever you like. What that macro will do, if you used obey + heel on a target, is make you cast physick on that target and at the same time issue the command to your fairy to cast heal on him as well. This effectively gives you a cure 2. Actually, better, since both of your spells have a chance to crit. It's even better when paired with adloquium which is a shielding spell. So not only do you get the shield but you get a heal with it as well.

And it's even better when your fairy has been roused. Or if it has been roused and has fey illumination on it. Basically, you can overcome the single target cure problem with a few tricks. If you find that your target's HP already is topped off when you begin to cast physick, you can cancel your cast by moving and your fairy will still heal the target free of charge. Sometimes when I'm in the middle of an action (like DPSing), I'll spam my physick button on a target I wish to heal and it will have my fairy heal for me so I can continue doing other things. I really like the succor macro because I can target the tank while I cast the AoE heal, having the fairy heal the tank and me heal the raid.
