Duty Roullette and the DPS (a hint at reducing wait times)Follow

People keep saying how the wait is long for DR DF's. The first day I found this to be true, but then I remembered to tick "Join PT in progress". Since then I've come upon some interesting situations, but more often I've been lucky enough with my BRD to end up at the second or just before the final boss of every dungeon. Sure you miss out on a small amount of mob dropped Gil. However, you help a PT finish their dungeon or get a few tomes and some Gil even if there's not enough time left and if you don't complete the dungeon with this method, it doesn't count against your daily run!

The longest I've waited with the in progress ticked is 11 minutes. You do miss out on HM Primal runs since it will usually put you into a dungeon queue, but that's not a major dealt o me anyway.

Happy hunting!

I've done that, and it's been hit or miss. Twice I got into a dungeon in progress at/near the end. The other half of the time, I get Wanderer's Palace, which everyone seems to drop. Can't complain though, because I'm just glad for the change in dungeon scenery. :)

Feels like every 1 in 4 you'll get the one where the tank and healer have dropped, generally leaving the run screwed. If a DPS has dropped, there's also the chance the tank or healer is lacking in some manner. Either way, I wouldn't call it something very reliable. Trying to get that High DR in once a day will at least roughly halve the number of dungeons a DPS will have to run, though.

The thing is, healers and tanks want a quick run, they very likely have "PT in prg" ticked, there's no loss if they end up in a bad situation and jump ship. Hell, I had a prae run earlier where the tanks and healers jumped when we loaded just because it was Prae... which is sad considering it was the speed run of choice a few months ago. They never even noticed all the DPS had relic+ :( I did get a group earlier where the previous PT must have abandoned at the first boss on the first try, we all joined in and finished only a few minutes slower than the previous PT would have if they pressed on.

I really haven't had any queue problems so far with my MNK. It might have been an anomoly but in the past 2 days I got into a CT group, a Pharos group and a couple of Prae runs really fast...granted the Prae runs were Roulette.

2.1 seems anectodally faster than 2.0. Before it would take 30+ mins for a WP/AK. Now on average for the above runs it takes about 5 mins...but there are a lot of factors at play that probably skew the times in my favor.

So I haven't had to resort to any of tricks yet to get into a group.

I have checked "join pt in progress" before and like the others you end up at the end of a run or another drop doesn't get filled.

I have yet to get an in progress run where there isn't just a dps left standing there. I've queued it 8 or 9 times at least and every single one was like that. Never have I been put in one where they just needed 1 fill in, never.

It can be rare, and also why I roll my eyes at my tank buddy when he says he gets his tomes super quick. Really, the moment all DPS start clicking the in-progress button, it's back to square one.

Depending on the instance and class, you could still end up proceeding, even with a duo. Having any DoM in the party makes it much, MUCH more survivable.

I love the times when I join a run in progress and there is absolutely no one else in the party.

Husband got a join in progress the other night doing CT for tomes (on a DPS)... walked in to find the group had engaged final boss so he just had to stand there, watch the fight and exit with more tomes for the richer. Lucky git!
