Yeah I figured they wouldn't let you bypass the mount quest. That's fine by me.
I wonder if u can use the Coeurl mount as battle buddy like you can the chocobo. That would be awesome!!!
No you can't, at least at launch. Yoshi-P said they were "looking into it" for Goobbue and Coeurl as battle companion.
