I saw someone mention FFXIVDB in another thread so I decided to google and came up with that site. It still looks like it has some kinks to work out, but It was awesome looking at the Item and Skill lists. As someone who spends a lot of time carousing game wiki pages I enjoyed it quite a bit. Looking at the Skills for each class/job has gotten me even more excited for the game. The in-game skill list seemed lacking, but the site also lists quest and job skills. Pouring over the lists has started to give me insight into how each class/job plays and most of them are pretty awesome. I'm not sure I like how Bard's songs seem to work, only being able to have one up at a time seems pretty lame, but it is a throwback to older FFs such as FFT. I guess it will still allow them to be solid DDs in some situations.
The item selection is really the only gripe I have with the game ATM. I really enjoyed FFXI's "OMFG EPIC LEVEL 30 ITEMZ FOREVER!" gear progression over an incremental stat gains. It was always fun running around town and suddenly seeing someone pimped out with all of those items you could only dream about. It made gear more meaningful when you ended up getting it as well. In FFXIV it will probably be "Hey, look at that guy, he has the level 40 version of my weapon!" for a while. I know that they have Relics and such, but it was still nice having those middle of the road Epic items that everyone pined over. I guess I'll just sit here and wallow in my own nostalgia whilst hoping to create new nostalgia on FFXIV in a couple months.
