Today I was doing maintenance on my computer, when I came across my old Final Fantasy XIV files. Out of curiosity, I opened the launcher and found only a message from Square Enix instructing me to uninstall the software as it was no longer playable.

This immediately led me to thinking: "All the game files are still there. It would be a shame to delete them and have them lost forever." Although, I also still have the discs my wife and I spent $100 for years ago. I felt kind of cheated... but then I thought, "...maybe they are not totally useless."

I searched the web for model viewers, or programs I could use to explore the old maps with, or even "play" offline somehow. I found nothing.

I was hoping someone here might have some hidden resources or knowledge regarding potential use for the old game files.

I'm not sure they're going to be worth much since so much of the game has been overwritten to be honest. At least you don't have to buy a new copy of the game when it relaunches Smiley: thumbsup

Oh really? That is good to know. They won't have physical copies of the game or will the old one be redeemable somehow?

If you have already registered your game code with your SE account, then they are going to provide a way to download the game. If you haven't and still have the codes, the general consensus is that you will be able to somehow register those and get your download. I'll see if I can find more info.

Oh and yes there are physical copies. Someone has a thread here with links to Amazon, GameStop, etc. Those are only for people who weren't playing for 1.0, or want to play on the PS3.
