Spotted on the web: The PC and PS3 versions of FFXIV: A Realm Reborn, listed at Target.com, Bestbuy.com and Amazon.com for $29.99 (PC) / $39.99 (PS3) and ready for pre-order. The release date is listed as Dec 31, 2013, but that's probably just a placeholder for "sometime this year."

The game description is frank about being a complete revamp of the 2010 release:
Quote:
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) for the PC platform that invites you to rediscover the realm of Eorzea with friends online. Designed as a relaunch of the 2010 PC release, Final Fantasy XIV, A Realm Reborn allows players to enjoy a true Final Fantasy flavored MMO experience the way game developer/publisher Square Enix intended. Game features include: a persistent and evolving world with immersive storylines, a flexible 18 choice class system, guild-based activities, optimized graphics, the choice of solo or group play, a breathtaking musical score, and cross-platform play with PS3 players.

It should also be noted you won't need to repurchase the PC version if you've already purchased the original PC version released in Sept. 2010, or if you've used a Buddy Pass from the Collector's Edition.

alot of shops do this. They know its coming but they dont know the release date so they put it as the end of the year. They can then drum up some pre-orders and know how much $ they have coming in when its released

It is no indication of anything

Well we kinda already knew the plan was that the game would launch this year, so this isn't really news. Yoshi has been good about communicating, we have the updated roadmap that gives us a pretty good idea of when the game will launch, barring any issues.

Does anyone know if the old buddy pass will still work or do you have to have used it before the relaunch?

I think that's still an unknown at this point.

No but when we've been having the same circle jerk discussions for the past 2 years, it's just fun to see it's actually posted now.

But... way-to-be a party pooper anyways.

I'm happy to see it up on the Pre-order list. It gives you something physical to look at while you wait. Also sometimes these can be updated before a lot of the game sites know whats going to happen. Maybe not with an SE title but there have been plenty of titles that no one knew about or had no release date that showed up on Amazon with accoutre information before anyone else reported it.

I for one check the Amazon site weekly for an update on the CE.
