So, I was just watching pre2.0 cutscenes and i was wonder, if FFXIV didnt do a very good job before.. were they planning to add more storyline or increase the level cap?

Do they plan to add a permanent end to the MMORPG when 2.0 is released and not add more level caps and such? was just curious.

No, most likely there will be a main story line with cut scenes and what not and they have said that they have improved it a whole bunch... but only time will tell. The level cap at 2.0 will be 50 still... so this story should take you from level 1 to 50 and will have a conclusion, but then there will still be things to do at endgame to keep you busy.

THEN expansion will come out that will increase the level cap, and offer a new story that takes you from level 50 to the new cap. This too will have an ending with added stuff to do and so on and so forth until the game shuts down (which will hopefully be years (provided 2.0 is awesome :P)).

So level cap will be raised just like it was raised in FFXI and new story will be added with each expansion.

If it's anything like FFXI then yes they will cost money and they released every couple of years or so.

You usually get a lot of bang for your buck with expansions in XI though. Expansions usually include:
- New zones
- New jobs
- New mission storylines
- New means of getting experience points
- Crapton of new quests
- New endgame events

The only FFXI expansion without a new job was Chains of Promathia (2nd one.) The only FFXI expansion without a new serious endgame event was Wings of the Goddess (4th one.) Rise of the Zilart and Treasures of Aht Urghan included all of the above; ToAU was such a success that it shifted the entire main hub of the game from Jeuno to Whitegate for almost three years!

Yeah expansions take anywhere from 1 year to 2 years to come out. In between expansions there are usually updates that move along CURRENT expansion. This is how most MMO's go lol. Also, there is no doubt that expansions will cost money. Basically all p2p games charge money for their expansions to bring in some extra revenue.

Yeah, Abyssea brought everyone back to Port Jeuno, because the NPCs to warp you to the Abyssea maws were only in that zone to start. SE added them to many other zones since then, including the other nations, but PJ remained the primary hub even after that.

I forget where, but I remember hearing yoshi say that he didn't plan on an expansion for at least 2 years after ARR releases. They wanted to make sure ARR is what they want it to be before they start making expansions.

Thats odd because from what I recall reading regarding FFXIV and expansiosn was They werent gonan do expansions until FFXIV no longer sucked (they didnt use hose words obviously) and since ARR is supopsed to = "no longer sucks" I would think an expansion is due by 2014

I'm one of those who have been playing (and paying) since the launch, and I just want 2.0. Get that sorted before trying to move resources on to an expansion.

Duo, would it be too much to ask you to reply in some actual language? It doesn't even have to be English- just something that's an actual language... My computer makes a squiggly red line under words that aren't in an actual language. And when I quoted you to make my reply, it made squiggly red lines under a large portion of your post...
