Will 1.0 Codes work for 2.0 once the servers are back up?Follow

Hey there, quick question,

I have a spare copy of FF14 with codes unused. I was wondering if the game code would still work for FF14: ARR once you're allowed to sign up again?

I've read that special item codes (e.g the Garland goggles) will still work, but nothing about the game code itself.
also, would the 30 day free game time still work?

Any information would appreciated.

Cheers.

I'm pretty sure they will, I will see if I can dig up the relevant linkage later this morning.

I'm not sure, but I believe it has to be registered.

I think unregistered codes won't work, but I could be wrong. The reason is, they are using a new client, so 1.0 users will need to download a new client and probably be given new reg codes.

Edit:

Or they may work. I hope they do.

Unregistered codes will work for items once ARR is launched, so I'm guessing unregistered character/game codes will work as well.

Thanks for the reply's guys.
Guess I'll just know in time.
Anybody know when the servers go live again? I saw the "End of an era" video and truly am pumped to try the game again.

Ok 2 things...

1. Now you're getting desparate and seemingly offering helpful links to people, when it's actuall just your blog.

2. The majority of people who play on PC and wish to also play on PS3 will be purchasing a copy. It worked the same way in XI and other than a few people thinking they should get a PS2 disc for free it wasn't a big deal. Would it be nice if you bought the PS3 version and it came with a free digital download for PC? Damn right. However it likely won't work the other way around, so it won't happen. The biggest problem is that people will try to say how successful ARR is based on PS3 sales, and those will be misleading since many people will just be purchasing the game as an option to their PC and not using/subbing 2 accounts.

I know I will also buy a PS3 copy. This is not something I expect them to give me for free. I own 3 copies of FFXI for different platforms. They spend dev time on a new platform, they deserve their money.

1. Blog link posted in every reply since it changed recently
2. Not sure whether you're disagreeing or agreeing with me. But in regards to your last statement I think you're right. But ultimately what other way to we have to measure success of it? Everyone who purchased xiv 1.0 at launch, even if they never played more than a day, will not have to rebuy ARR for PC. So even though inaccurate, looking at Ps3 sales and the possibly small amount of additional PC sales is really the only good measure of how well the launch is received.

Your blog link is in your sig, offering advice or commenting when someone is looking for information followed with a link is generally a link to something helpful. What you are doing is decietful. If you want blog hits, make your blog worth reading.

And I'm not disagreeing with you because you didn't offer an opinion(well you have your usual twinge of negativity with the "unfortunately" bit)/statement... you asked a question, the answer is people WILL buy the PS3 version in addition to their PC version. The actual question is how many of the PS3 sales actually not be new subs, and how do we separate the numbers to see what the drop off rate after the free 30 days is when a lot of people aren't buying the PS3 version for an additional account yet may still use the free 30 days to dual box.

I can think of at least ten people - yes ten - who wanted to play XIV on PS3 and were waiting for it to get released. They never touched the PC version.

I believe PS3 initial sales will be high, not just from current PC users who want the PS3 version (like me and Louiscool) but also from casual console Final Fantasy fans who don't necessarily have gaming PCs.
