For those of us who haven't been able to log in at all since the start of the event, is there any video of what we would expect to see upon logging in?
I last logged out about a month ago outside near Ul'dah. At level 41, could I expect to be of any help? Is there a place everyone is gathering for this event, and what exactly is happening there?

The event was this morning at 2am for me, so it has already passed. Most people dc'd, others fought some enemies near Brittlebark, then everyone essentially mass dc'd with some system messages appearing.
Lots of level 60 imperial soldiers, looked like they were going down fairly easily (I was only level 10). Lots of DC's and other connection issues and then the servers were down.

Reading up on all the info now. This is all very depressing. The videos of all the old quests and maps will become like priceless treasures of the world that once was. I rather liked the old FFXIV. I just didn't have a $4000 computer to handle its awesomeness and had to play on the "Looks like Resident Evil 1 on PSX" graphics setting.
I just hope they offer some free trial or "play up to level 20" deal me and my wife can try it out with.
