I collected most of the translated information, added some links to official sources, and wrote some thoughts on what is shaping up to be an Awesome prospect. Enjoy!

Thanks for the video link, I've been waiting to see it since it seemed like it wasn't accessible on Youtube for a bit.
#5electromagnet83, Posted: Nov 14 2012 at 4:52 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You're welcome. I wish Yoshida would officially release all that gameplay in HD but I guess we'll have to make do with what we have. And I guess I can't knock him because this game has had more publicity than any other Square title I can think of. He's done a great job showing it off so far.

I am curious about when it will be possible to post on the official forums even if you didn't pay for the last month. I've tried to log in to my square enix account on the forums so I can post there, but it still doesn't work. Considering noone is paying anymore I don't see why I can't do it. Will it just be those who payed for the very last month who have access to the official forums until ARR or what?

I'm not really sure. I was under the impression that if you had a FFXIV account, even if inactive, you could still log into the lodestone. I might be wrong though. You may want to just email squeenix about it if you're concerned.

Interesting idea, I thought it was only tied to SE ID, not active XIV subs but now I'm remembering they had limited it. Should probably turn that off with 2.0 coming I imagine. Or at least unlock some of the forums for general usage.

Lodestone won't allow you to log in if you were not active in the last 30 days. I found that out when I tried to log in when Lahurah told me about the "scary story" contest. It had been a crazy thirty days and sure enough I wasn't able to log in, because it had not detected any account activity from me.

Surely they'll need to change that once December 11th rolls around...

I was of the idea that permissions for the Beta forums were their own forum section. Though, granted, this is only because of the NDR looming over alpha which is keeping their forum rather separate right now.

Yeah that was basically my experience too Catwho, except I was looking to post a couple of questions for the live letter. I do hope they change it come the next month though, don't see why not tbh.

Sorry if this becomes a double post now, but I just got an answer from SE support about official forum access and they told me if I didn't pay for the last 30 days I won't be able to post until I resubscribe to ARR.

I personally think that is a really bad way of doing it, but I can't say I am surprised considering it is SE. When the game is active it makes sense, but when noone is playing nor paying anymore and there is no way to reactivate either, personally I think it only makes sense to give everyone access just like all games do before release.

Oh well.

Several obvious reasons:

Players who pay want to feel like their feedback is given preference over those who don't. Pretty much the same reason people would meltdown if they found out that alpha/beta testing didn't give previous subs priority in getting in.

It also avoids trolling from [insert leading MMO here] fanboys who instead of playing their game that is far beyond all that which you can comprehend with 100% of your brain, would rather tell you how amazing their favorite MMO is and how much yours sucks.

Like I said, it makes sense when the game is live and people can choose if they want to pay/play/post. However right now noone can pay nor play, but there are still people who can post which I am sorry, but to me doesn't make sense. I think it is the wrong choise and if they were going to do it this way, at least SE could have given a heads up about it.

About the trolls, I honestly don't think they will go for XIV anyway... because if nothing else I doubt they even know about ARR at this point. Even if there were some trolls though, I would think there were exponentially more good and constructive posters that would join and ask questions.

Haha I am making it sound as if this is the biggest deal ever which it really isn't. It would just have been nice to be able to take part in live letter questions etc and since I asked support and got an answer I thought I'd share so people wondering about it, like me, could get the information as well.

I actually think this is a mistake too even though I'm one of those paying players. At least unlock certain forums (General Discussion comes to mind, maybe the entire Community group of forums). The rest I don't see why a non-player would need to post in, but at least they could participate in the threads going on in the most active forums.

You all can come post on Zam all you want Smiley: grinSmiley: thumbsup
