Frankly it makes me happy. As someone who works at a computer all day, my hands get really sore if I go home and play with mouse and keyboard. It's a dealbreaker for me. I really enjoyed EQ2 but not enough to be in pain while playing it.
I don't understand why people are so attached to mouse and keyboard - it's awkward, uncomfortable, and if you spend any time on a computer not gaming, a good way to get repetitive stress injuries. I mean yeah you can spin around in circles easier I guess, but I always found it yucky. Give me a controller any day.

this. mouse keyboard is great for pvp (inb4 pc users will have pvp advantage...which may be true), and i think anyone using a controller will be hard pressed to compete, but its such an inelegant control method. I always feel like it puts me several miles away from my character.
I still use them in non-controller mmos, and even customized my keyboard and bought a trackball for swtor/gw2 (trackball feels more like a real "controller" to me. moving a mouse around is ridiculous).
Why were these productivity tools repurposed for gaming? oh, right because in the 80s no one thought games would ever be serious business. And then everyone just...forgot to make an MMO specific controller. and something aboout hotkeys something something.
