To be honest, once I opened this thread and found out what it's contents were, I lol'd and almost answered without even reading it. I also saw the new letter form the producer and decided I'd come back after reading that. Now that I've read your post, I still lol'd. There is no way any mmo that charged $25 a month would ever succeed. Yes, the higher subscription fee's would make the game company very very happy. It would kind of make sense since development costs are becoming so much higher. One way they've been off setting this rise in cost is the higher prices of the game out of the box. Also, they can release collecter's editions of the game and sell the game for a higher price for the same development cost. They should in no way increase the monthly cost. The entire reason to keeping the monthly cost to the consumer low is to make it affordable for as many people as possible. If you raise the cost, it will not only cause more people to not play the game, if the game does fail, due to the smaller number of subscribers, it would end up making even less money. If you were developing a game, and knowing the way the economy is right now everywhere in the world, can you honestly tell me that your game would be successful? A higher monthly fee would cause the consumers to have higher expectations. You would never be able to reach those expectations unless you came up with something completely new and groundbreaking. The current trend is for mmo's to be getting cheaper monthly fee's if not going free to play altogether with a micro transaction store. You'd make more money with micro transactions anyways.
