Honestly...I think its kinda cool. I mean...it had quite an advantage since it wouldn't take much to distance itself from the original version...but still..not bad to be recognized amongst some decent competition.
It also shows that Yoshi can work a crowd. Now he just needs to work..the game.

The comments on Dtoid are priceless. Whether it was linked in to a FF fanboy site or not (one of the comments that made me laugh), it shows there is a general interest in the game... and even with everyone saying WTF, most of them will now go out and read up on it and maybe get an eye-opener on how much things have changed. Whether that changes their opinion of the game is their choice though.
I know I got excited about the game when I saw the gameplay footage, moreso than I have been towards any MMO released in the last 5 or so years.

That's the big thing with 2.0 gameplay footage, it looks 10x more interesting than 1.0 ever did. So it should manage to draw quite a bit of attention.
It sure feels strange to read positive press relating to FFXIV! This is just what SE needs right now; good for them. As I've mentioned once before (a while ago now), the failure of 1.0 may actually end up being a boon for SE insofar as it supplies a wonderful marketing hook. For good or bad, nobody has even seen a relaunch of a failed MMORPG before, and they will be watching this one even if they weren't necessarily interested in the game itself initially.

OMG so true! Do you remember the video of the female archer and the gladiator? It was complete garbage compared to what we saw during the gameplay video this year. I mean we had an archer shooting and running around and the gladiator used a very lame red lotus blade. I think it was all graphics, nostalgia and the Square-Enix Final Fantasy name that had us all blinded. FFXIV failing was the best thing to happen to it.

I finally had time to sit down and read through the comments posted on the article. I am a little surprised at all of the haters that lashed out, but found the surprise of the award and their responses comical. It is possible that it was trolled I guess, but who really cares. The important thing, in my eyes at least, is 2.0 is getting a whole lot of attention and that can't be a bad thing.
I have to say that I am even more excited about the relaunch but am proceeding with caution. I did, after all, have my hopes broken by this game once before. I hope they manage to pull it off and the subscribing numbers surpass XI's when it was in it's prime.

It doesn't seem likely if you think about the timing. I'm no strategist, but even I could see that SE and XIV were in a unique position(the pole position) in terms of being able to launch before Rift, SWtoR, TERA, GW2 and the MoP expansion. Marketing masochism doesn't seem likely to me.
I give Yoshi and SE credit for making clear progress with their latest gameplay video, but that progress still only brings them up to the level of the competition at best. I don't doubt that the best has yet to come, but until that point all of the oohs and ahhs are praise for what most other MMOs come standard with.

It's a classic Tanaka scheme. The man was crazy - like a fox. His retirement was a ruse all along.

I beat you all the people that Commented on that page didn't vote or voted for something else, and notice how many comments are on there.. not many at all, That goes to shoe to can't judge Destructs Votes, because it hasn't even hit 100 Comments even :P. Also, I'm sure half of those comments are positive.
