My #1 complaint is the lack of an Inventory Sort function.
#2 - Please release additional retainers available for purchase.
#3 - Hurry up with the new market ward system and add a /search function.

This is a good idea. However.. I think the Complaints Dept. needs a forum of it's own. One thread is just not going to be big enough to contain the gripes of wrath.

Apart from my own linkshell,
I've never felt so apart from other players in any MMO compared to this. Which is sort of why I post here instead...

The battle system is monotonous and abilities are boring. There is nothing special about doing Trunksplitter every 2-3 hits or Skull Sunder every other hit. The battle regimen system is a joke, even if you can get it to work. Battles have no climax as there are no real weapon skills or skill chains. Party battles are also very independent as jobs do not really rely on each other, rather everyone is attacking the same mob. It's soloing in a group basically. No real teamwork necessary. There is no incentive for efficiency, although xp chains can easily be added later (why aren't they there now?).
The battle and ability system simply has too many fundamental flaws to provide a meaningful experience. People will start to get bored post rank 20 if not earlier. This is my opinion at least.

None of the battle moves are really "fun", well first of all the moves like "Heavy Strike" are just your auto attack, they just removed it and put it on the action bar to do manually. But I am thinking of in FFXI when I got "Sidewinder" on my rng it was like WOOOT!!..and "Utsusemi" on my nin same thing. In WoW actions like "Death Grip" on a DK are hella fun just to do. And like on a Rogue when you do stuff like "Pick Pocket"...The abilities in this game are just a means to an end.

Unfortunately this is true. Gathering is a means to crafting. Crafting is a means to quality gear. Quality gear is a means to owning some mobs, the true fun part of MMO's like it was in FFXI and I'm sure other. I have no motivation to level gathering or crafting because it seems pointless since the battle system is not engaging. Abilities should never be a means to and end unless the goal is to cancel subscriptions. In that case I already beat the game.

I agree with this sentiment. While I don't know about "DK" stuff, I know exactly what you mean about things like Utsusemi, things that really felt like they changed the game. Most of the slosh in FFXIV just feels like rehash from another class. For the most part PUG = LNC = MAR = GLD, and so on.

If there is no AH, then add the chance to have more retainers. I am geting to many material and i am unable to put on just 1 retainer. On the same topic, a way to have a search while looking bazzars. I wanna give an idea. Insted of check one bazzar a a time, when you are in the market ward it will let you check all the bazzar around 30 feets of your current position in a single list. So you optimize your time and in the same way you will have to move to check other bazzars in other layers.
About the crafting, Could somone explain why do you need an part crafted by a rank 20 for a recipe rank 7? I just don't get it.

Wow so many good complaints and so many flaws not mentioned by anyone. Like the extremely unbalanced dmg that mages can do w/ AoE spells leaving us melee types w/ little or no real chance to skill up. The fact that pug has 2x the skillup chances of any other melee from basic attacks. The really screwed tells I mean really placeholder <r> = last tell sender my a$$. ctrl-r doesn't reply? well that would have just made sense. Leve mobs being so wildly different stat wise that a 2 star leve is too weak to be worthwile, then a 1 star in the same camp is impossible to guage what is that about. I mean I don't mind getting to know my mobs and such, but if it's a 20 leve it should be a 20 leve not 37. And for the love of god stop it from hanging and lagging out when I open my inventory or try to do a bit of crafting, if the U.I. wasn't truly functional (we all knew it during beta testing) shouldn't that maybe be a priority? I could be wrong maybe it is way more important to make sure that the chat window doesn't close when I'm crafting ... ... ...

I am a fan of the Final Fantasy series have played nearly all of them and didn't hesitate to pony up the cash for C.E. but like FFX-2 FF Mystic Quest and FF13 I am truly disappointed by what S.E. has done to what should have been great. I'm really sad since I haven't played any other mmos that I really want to stick w/ and thought this would be the one after years of FFXI

To put things in to prospective there are worst things than Final Fantasy XIV online. The reviews have been less than good by most if not all those who have reviewed the game thus far.
Complaints and endless whining are the staple to all the forums on the internet at the moment.
SE is working on the UI and will most likely make it more palatable unlike herpes that will always be with you. (Ha Ha Megan)
But then again it might be more fun to get Herpes than play FF14 right now.

It takes about 2 and a third weeks to fully replenish anima. One standard warp costs 16 hours of idle time, a warp to a far away location costs a full day of idle time, and those are only one way trips. Anima regen is WAY too slow, and that's only made worse by the fact that there's no other nice way to travel.

I beg to differ, few games have been released for sale for $75-$50 dollars that are so wildly incomplete, it is barely not criminal to take $75 from some one for this steaming pile of Beta. If they are working on making the game playble still they should have delayed, end of story.

I hate the fact that synthesize is over the action option. I hate that when I'm going to teleport or summon my retainer, I hit "synthesize" instead and I have to go through the animation to get back to where I was.

1. Some form of search in the retainer system. I don't care if its an AH, reverse auction, or just a counter that lists all the items available. I absolutely will not waste my couple hours of play time a day wandering through that he|| hole trying to find materials for crafting.
2. Horrendously slow UI. I run a mid range quad core with 8 GB of ram. My only weak link is my vid card, and its far from low end. This is server side. I play ffxi on this machine and the menus open up so fast I wonder if I clicked a button or just thought about it. Same goes for LOTRO.
3. Inventory sort. As a programmer I can tell you if this is a hard option for them to implement they have a very convoluted nightmare of code they are dealing with.
Things I find annoying:
Anima regen rate. I run most everywhere I go for now. I try to keep my tele to one or 2 a day, and generally that's going to be to or from Gridania. I get the idea behind the limit, and agree with it in theory. I just think regen should be between 12 and 16 pts a day.
If its not bad enough they force us to use retainers and bazaars to sell our goods I run into several players a day who show the bag symbol next to their name, but there is no browse option in the menu. On players who's names show up in grey if you click on the browse link nothing happens.
We have general and battle tabs but no PM or linkshell tab. Once again as a programmer myself I can tell you that THIS would be very easy to implement.

Why do gnats drop rat tails and lemurs drop gnat wings?
Put melee auto attack back. That is what distinguishes melee from magic attacks. Pressing 1-10 for special melee skills is fine but to press 1 everytime to make a normal attack is STUPID.
Auto melee is fun, when u have when stats like weapon speed, double attack etc.

My Main is lvl 21 Gladiator , i have also lvled the other classes to about lvl10 each for cross over abilities. I have stopped lvling all other classes since and am concentrating on my Gladiator.
NOW MY PROBLEM is that 99% of the time when i do my lvl 20 guild levels, the reward gives me MARKS FOR OTHER CLASSES?!!

So I stopped playing the game on Friday afternoon, after playing for a full week and having fun. I was overlooking a lot of the problems of the game, but then my friend called me and said that they were trying out LOTRO which is now free to play, and I remembered that I have a level 32 toon. So I start it up and the graphics are very similar to FFXIV, and suddenly I forget about playing final fantasy.
It is now Tuesday morning and I start up FFXIV for pretty much the first time since Friday. I start giving items to my retainer, and then it disconnects me again, just like it had been doing previously. I spent the next 30 minutes trying to get back online. I can login and even select my character, and then I receive the error of doom that some others have been getting.
We are literally locked out of the game for 20-30 minutes. Others have reported cycling to a different character will unlock it, but I only have one character. I contacted Square about this last Thursday or so and I received a message promptly, that there were things that I needed to do on my side, and disregarded my explanation. I resent a message re-explaining that I am in fact connected to their servers, and authenticated, but I am locked out of my character. I almost need to make up a word at this point for my lack of patience today.

This is NOT what you do in any industry or any company. You DO NOT put out an unfinished and defective product on the market and expect people not only to buy it, but also pay a fee to keep using it.
The damage is done, we bought the game as soon as it came out, but the complaints are there and the reviews are out and the sales will go down.
In any other industry, the right thing to do would be to accept your mistake and recall your defective product. Fixing it through patches (if even possible) may fix the problem but the customer's trust won't be fixed so easily.
By any standard of quality or management this is a bad practice and will sink any company.

Why is the UI so ancient? I can only have one active skill bar 1-10 on my screen? LOTRO/EQ2 allows my to have up 6 or more skillbars + lots of customizable options.
Targeting sucks, when i press TAB is target the furthest mob instead of the nearest one? WTF!
Why is there no corpse when i kill a mob? I want to see the carcass when i kill something, to be able to chose option to auto loot corpse or not to !
Why is partying so freaking boring? Why is party mechanics so badly designed? Everyone in party just do their own thing there is no class role , strategy , nor skill? Its all a group of button mashing players together trying to get the most skillups trying to get most by DPSing? WTF?!
Theres no duel wield? Theres only about 5-7 weapons available for each class from lvl 1-50?!! WTF!!
Repair fee for a tier 3 weapon cost millions of gil?!! WTF!
I can`t freaking sell my old gear unless its a 100% condition and NPC only repairs to 75% each time with their exorbitant repair fee?! wtf!

Why does it take a freaking 5-10s just to draw my weapon and start combat EVERYTIME!? Why is combat so freaking slow and always a pause of a few seconds everytime i use a combat skill?! Why is the UI so slow and laggy even when i am using a ATI5970 and I7 980!? Why is SLI Crossfire not supported? To open my inventory theres no shortcut keys like 'I' or 'J' for journal etc? I've started doing squats while spamming the "Standard Synthesis" while leveling up my crafting. It's that repetitious (But hey, I am doing well craftwise and I'll tighten up my toosh. :3)

This game makes me yearn for the days of Valkrum Dunes circa 2005.
Why the FFFF do i take a freaking 15mins just to sell and empty out my inventory?
The major #1 grip I have about this game is the copy-paste overworld. I don't even know if SE can fix it or not.

Fix the stupidly insane heal rate that mobs have while in combat. I fail to believe that a marmot or dodo should be able to heal 25 to 30% of its life simply by moving out of range for a split second

Would you not be holding frequent, or at least have held ONE major press conference
addressing ALL of the problems and what you plan to do about it?
I run a cabinet finishing company and deal with customers all day. I couldn't imagine
hearing customers complaints and to hear that they are unhappy with a product I finished,
and not do anything about it. I dont understand what they are thinking.
I think the best course of action at this point would be to release a statment that they
apologize for the state the game was released in, extend the trial period for at least two
months (or until the bugs are fixed and inventory sort, player search function, AH or searchable
market wards, and the UI is cleaned up) at the minimum, and state what they're plan of
action is to fix these problems with some sort of time frame.
I have been a square fan my entire life, but after the release of this incomplete pile of
crap and then the neglect of all of their customers, I'm not so sure I can even call myself
one anymore.

maybe going back to FFxi and play at the dunes will be a lot more fun than this ff14crap.

I think they're busy trying to buy some good reviews, so they can get their maximum possible cash return before everyone abandons the game in disgust.

I have to wonder if Square US have been complainig to Zam staff about trying to lock more negative posts, there sure is a lot more locking/closing of things around here lately. This sticky is mainly to lock away complaints too, most people wont/don't read these.
Game must be really tanking harder than anyone imagined if they are/did do this.

As for another complaint, stopping you from being able to run while changing gear is incredibly stupid, and a step down from FFXI.

Trust me, the ones complaining to us isn't SE, it's the community. I haven't heard a peep from SE about thread closures. We're hearing it from a lot of you who are enjoying the game that they hate the negativity and this community is really supposed to be for the people who are playing, not the people who aren't. Trolls coming here to laugh at the people playing isn't something that's welcome.

Ya the gameplay is, meh... But I cold learn to live with it if the UI wasn't so bad.
To put everyone into perspective about what is happening with this game, I submit the following. This is the only list of current issues, that Square announced nearly 2 weeks ago. And no new "known" issues have been released by square-enix.
"We would like to notify you of the current major issues as of Oct. 1, 2010.
[Current Issues]
- If an item name contains a "+ [number]" at end (e.g. "+1," "+2," etc.), players are not able to equip the specified item through a macro command.
Currently, equipping items through macro commands work in the following manner:
Example 1) If you only possess the item "Dagger," triggering the macro command "/equip main Dagger" will equip the item "Dagger" on your character.
Example 2) If you only possess the item "Dagger +1," triggering the macro command "/equip main Dagger" will equip the item "Dagger +1" on your character.
Example 3) If you possess the items "Dagger" and "Dagger +1," triggering the macro command "/equip main Dagger" will randomly choose and equip the item "Dagger" or "Dagger +1" on your character.
Example 4) If you possess the item "Dagger +1" (or possess the items "Dagger" and "Dagger +1"), triggering the macro command "/equip main "Dagger +1" will not equip either of the items.

No MMO or video game would have this little amount of known issues, within a few weeks of releasing, and likewise any game that does, is highly suspect, especially given the shameful reviews and the many posts I have read with issues in game. There is no way that there are so few issues with the game. Very little communication to consumers in a MMO market = lots of money lost and for many we speculate the bankruptcy of square-enix. I know they have other markets and games, but investors will probably seek other companies that are more attuned with a gaming community. Why would anyone continue to invest with a company that ignores customer complaints? We have a BBB here for a reason. Maybe they should read what that is all about.
