When i was watching the trailer again i got the thought maybe there will be air battles as well as flying mobs that can't be fought on ground. because seeing those flying machine they were flying in looked battle ready or maybe another way of transport.
FFXI's original trailer had something about logging in to the game from an arcade machine with a memory card and a goobue that ate a mandragora. I'll believe it when I see it.

Are you sure you're not talking about F-Zero AX? I've never heard any of that when looking up infor for XI back in 2001-2002.

Originally animals did eat other animals in FFXI. Unfortunately, it became apparent very quickly that it wouldn't work out (or at least so they say). I believe there was a problem with mobs being eaten too quickly and there not being enough for players to kill. I think the feature was removed as early as the Japanese beta.

The only real information we have about combat in FFXIV comes from interviews and a little from videos. We know that There will be goups of mobs at once. We know that they want people to fight groups at once sometimes instead of just picking one mob at a time.

No I remmeber the video he was talking about. It wasn't really a video about FFXI it was more a promo for "Play Online" it had 3 people from all over the world. liek some teen age guy in japan, a teen girl at home in america and some older dude. The girl logs into the game and messages he friends (the two guys) and they get the text via cell phone or instant message. it reads "Lets go!" or something like that.
the kid logs into the game and the guy logs into the game like at an arcade or something. and they show up next to her ingame.
To bad Play Online didn;t live up to it's full potential. I bet we'll see it resurface again around ffXIV launch but not as a game portal but a web based portal somethign similar to LS community beta.
