The first thing that went through my mind when I heard about FFxiv was "Damn, I gotta go back to Midgar and make my tarutaru ninja again!!"
I don't know about you guys but I feel like if I go back to the older server with my old name and everything, I will be seeing lots of old faces again. It kind of excites me after a couple of years off of xi.
Oh man, I'm ready for some 5 wars and a rdm in west ronfaure fighting mesmerizers...

I'm kind of iffy on re-uniting with all my long-time XI friends on XIV. I played for about 4 years (quit last June and started at PS2 launch in 2004). Over that time, I lost a lot of good friends who quit, etc.
Haven't really heard from any of them about hooking back up for XIV, so I'm actually kind of excited about the prospect of jumping into the game with a completely fresh perspective - one similar to the first time I logged onto FFXI and began that long journey, 4 years ago.

I feel like you can eliminate alot of the "bad experiences" by playing with the people that you used to play with who were cool. Like I wouldn't want to play a get to know a bunch of @#%^s who would bitch and cry about haidate ><. I'd rather go on a brand new experience with old allies =)

Most definitely. I did spend 3.5 years in Ramuh. Might as well spend another 1+ year there. Besides, I can never spell Quetzlcoatl, or whatever the F. LoL.

I know they have said they plan on letting us keep our friends list in the new game. I hope they create some type of system that allows people on that list the ability to be on the same server. That is to assume they don't allow us the ability to choose a server. I know in the last couple years of ffxi, they gave us the ability to choose servers, but i guess we will have to wait and see how they plan on setting that up.
I have quite a few friends in-game as well as outside that play. I would love to adventure with them again on the same server. If they don't, we will use our ls website to figure something out.

Last time I was subscribed, I ran into a couple of old friends, then the next thing I know they get bammed for that stuff back in January. Not sure if they'd be playing, or if the whole thing just embittered them towards XIV...

I might consider it. Although after playing for so many years, I've seen friends just come and go...and I mostly talk to a certain group of people. I plan on talking to them about it, if they even plan on moving to FFXIV, and just going from there.
