I realize that it could cause some confusion, but keeping the server names the same or very similar would make it very easy for people to reconnect with friends/ls's from FFXI. As it is, I'm sure that people from my friends list will be spread out on a bunch of different servers. With the same names, we would know where to congregate from the get-go.

It's already going to be hard enough to see where everyone is going. I hope that people all choose the same server, but there's never any guarantee they will. Especially since I Have more than one set of friends on FFXI :/ With my luck they'll all choose different servers, and it's sad to think that I'll lose touch with the people who go to a server different from my choice.

If not the same names, how about linking pairs of new and old servers? Sorta like sister-servers.
In addition to creating spiritual successors to XI servers, it could allow for some neat cross-server events.
