I noticed someone asked in the questionare for a "Spanish" translation for the game, but no talking for a Chinese one. Not even FFXI which has been out for years has got one yet.
I'm not sure if its Chinese, Japanese racisim or if Square is just a terrible business. Last time I checked there is around 1.4 billion people in China. Enough potential to double their sells or more.
Or maybe they are afraid the Chinese community with their cross region servers would out do their Japanese ones?
Its the only two possible things I can think of. China is one of their largest trading partners and there is many many translators available. (I mention this because the remark why Spanish might not be an option was that translators were not available in Japan).
Could be some legal reasons ~ WoW has Chinese servers but not cross region so maybe thats why they can get away with it.
Anyways, im American and white. I'm no even Chinese but Chinese is my second language, and I have a particular interest in their culture, so thats the only reason I'm even raising this issue.
And some ask why it even matters, well it matters on how successful this game will be. One of the great things is this will be available on a console so people who might not have a high end computer can still play this game (unlike most mmorpgs) and the fact is being released in 4 different languages is also another plus. But I think if they also considered Chinese...providing they could work the legal barriers that may exsist, they have a huge potentional market that is untapped. Providing a huge increase potentional in player base in profits, which means more and better content for the mass.
Anyways, I'm curious about other peoples opinions on the subject. Also this thread has nothing to do with RMT or any other stereotypical implication that the only Chinese interested in playing are RMT, which is wrong and demonizing.
