I read you can give collection pieces to others. But how do they add to their own collection? I have yet to figure this out.

As long as it's a piece that they need, it should automatically update and consume it when the trade completes.

The only exception are job collections. In theory, if you haven't started any job collections for a specific job yet, then even a trade won't make those tick off until you find one piece on your own. (that happened to me with Wizard)
