Dunno if it's been mentioned before but has anyone ever gone to the Blighted Isle and swam out to the part of the map around where the compass is?

Have you? I'd love to know what is out there. I haven't really explored any far reaches like that, though I should! I used to do a ton of exploring in older games, like EverQuest and DAoC. Exploring in MMORPGs is just not the same anymore.

Today's games are more focused on focused zones where combat and more specific mechanics retract from the far-reaching exploration draw of older games. It's still fun and great to explore newer games like WAR, but it's just not quite on the same level.

There's really a giant compass sitting in the water. Definitely worth scoping out. I won't tell you what happens when you try to go all the way around it, though. I want to see what happens to other people first to make sure we all end up in the same place.

Edit- Be sure to stop off at the small island sitting out there on your way. Apparently you have a powerful ability called "The Drowning" that will eventually kill you if you spend too much time in the water.

I tried to swim off the edge of the map, but it just warped me back to my rally point. It was fun, though, heheh. I'm gonna have to check out the giant compass now, though. I love exploring! And mountain climbing! I'm always trying to climb mountains. I actually got up to the top of one in Ellyrion, above the cave with all the goblins in it near the skeleton PQ.

Seriously????

There is a little thing called the "Tome Of Knowledge" in WAR that will take you to many far off and hard to reach places. This, IMO, is one of the best exploration concepts in an MMORPG in a long time. It's just too bad that it seems like about 90% of the population of the game just grinds scenario after scenario to level up.

Have fun, explore, look for new stuff! Why rush to the "endgame" then complain that there is nothing to do? Just my 2 bronze opinion ;)

Definitely. I see so many trying to get to the "endgame" and miss all the great stuff in-between. Still, I suppose you could rush to the endgame and the go back again at a more exploratory pace. I wonder how many really do that though...
