We have added a new option to the user settings that will allow players to enable or disable shader caching. This is a graphical performance option, and for a full explanation, players can hover their mouse over this option in the user settings window. This should help improve performance on many systems.
I hope I will see a significant increase in performance with this patch so that I can stay and play War.
I just cannot play War with the lag that I am experiencing on my computer.
What is your computer?
You might not be included in this group, but I'm getting really tired of people with 5 year old PCs that just barely played FFXI complaining that WAR doesn't play well on their PCs.
You can't play Grand Theft Auto IV on a PSone. You can't play Super Mario Galaxy on a Game Cube. You can't play WAR on a P4 2.0 Ghz computer you bought in 2002, either, and expect the game to play the way it is meant to be played. If you're hovering around the minimum specs, it's time to consider an upgrade. I know money is tight for many, but you could easily build a $350 PC (assuming you don't buy a case or monitor, keyboard or mouse) that would play WAR and most other modern games smoothly.
However, there are a few people experiencing "stuttering" on good PCs.
I haven't seen anything to address that. I am also VERY upset to see that they didn't address the crash-to-desktop that some players, myself included, experience in just about every scenario we join.
Then again, these are "highlights." There is hope!
I'm sick of playing WAR on my 1.5 year old MacBook Pro while my uber PC with my brand new 24" display is sitting idle.
