So here's my situation.

Wife is at home in Finland, I am here in the states working, as I do a few months of the year. With Warcraft, it was simple, change the text in the realmlist.wtf file, from US to EU or visa versa, and bam, access to those servers, provided you created and paid for a account for that region.

Bought two copies of war I did, but naturally, the set up of the folders are not like WoW, and I don't think this type of operation will work for War.

A US account, we can create, getting her to be able to play it, other then installing the game from disks, we need a solution on. Is there a US game client we can download for her? Or is there a way to change server regions from game files like with WoW?

Try we will, to simply create her account for US client, and try to log in with her game.. something tells me it will not work =p.

I'm an American living in the UK. All my systems are US systems. I'm playing just fine with my US copy on one Oceanic server and one North American Server. BTW I'm using a UK broadband service as well (as in when I click on websites I get sent to the .uk portion) and absolutely no issues with my US copy.

I don't think you'll have to do any tinkering around.

Well to the above poster, you are totally off mark on what I was talking about, but thanks for responding. Let's exclude having a US copy in EU all together. I'm talking about changing files in the game, to be able to switch to different region types.

A little more reading, I discovered it's not that simple, as simple WoW made it out to be. Multiple files are associated with patching the game.

But let's say we just wanted to download her a US game client, which is available for EA.com! So we went there, and I gave her the link for it. However, for her, it automatically went to a Finnish EA site, and she would order the EU game.. not what we want here.

What's wierd is, she has another, older computer, that's using XP OS, rather then vista, and that older computer goes to the US EA site, and she's able to download the US game to that computer. I don't know if she can simply copy those files from one computer to another, and it will be playable.. I don't want to spend $49.95 to find out either. (she cannot play the game on the older computer, its not specced for it)

You should be able to transfer the files easily.I don't really know about changing files to bring up a different server list, nor do i think there is a different list. Just know, that it is a huge file, and may take some time to transfer it to her other pc.

It's fine, I just mailed her the game, minus the registration code.
