Black orc or chosen?
i've got a lvl 11 black orc and he is very hard(as in don't lose much health or die) and also deals good damage, but i haven't taken a chosen so don't know how he tanks, I like the auras, any thoughts from ppl who have taken both would be great. I solo and group.
Many thanks.
I'm also looking at the dwarf tank(name escapes me).

Ok, I know that wasn't an option but i think the opposite equivalent to ironbreaker is black orc(much like witch elf and witch hunter are identical).

Honestly, I haven't played a chosen, but i know that as far as pure tanking abilities go, being able to share damage, high block and parry rates, and knockback or knockdown effects are awesome. And taunt is great for PvE.

Actually, the Ironbreaker doesn't have an equivilent in the game atm. It's mirror class is the Blackguard, but it was removed for balance reasons prior to release.

The Black Orc is the mirror of the Swordmaster, Chosen is the mirror of the Knight of the Blazing Sun, another class that was removed prior to release.

Both Tanks are good in thier own way, both are equally viable in PvP and PvE, they just use different class mechanics and different playstyles.

They are bringing those 4 classes back into game at some point,
as to when only they know.

rank 18 chosen, lovin it. tanking multiple mobs was only a problem because it was a pain to cycle through targets. not a problem anymore, just got a cone shaped damage ability on a 15 second timer. along with taunt, enraged blow, knockback, and guard holding even groups of mobs isn't difficutl at all.

before 18, just cycle through your target list and drop an enraged blow on everything you're holding, then go back to concentrating on w/e main mob you're killing. if a link strays to a healer, wash rinse repeat. guard really shines here, letting you take 50% of the target's damage seems more like an after effect, the great thing about it is you get 35% of thier hate. i put it on my buddy who's a DoK, he's killing stuff and healing me at the same time, it's a great hate generator.

It's depends on what do you expect form your tank.
If you want to be "Just" a tank Orc is good, tanking ability is much more better than Chosen ones.
But if you want something more then just "tanking" I will recommend Chosen, it's like bard with steroids! You can hit hard and buff/debuff as well.
It's really up to you, if you like to be in front line take Orc or Dwarf, but if you want to be behind enemy line and use variety of different combat tactics, take a Chosen.
I find to play Chosen more difficult and more challenging than playing other tanks. But also more interesting.

If you killed once - You are murderer!
If you killed ten people - You are monster!
If you killed hundreds - You are hero!
If you killed thousand - You are legend!

I don't have any experience with Chosen, but Black Orc's rock. Just feels great to stand in de middle of a group of 5 Dwarves and killing them of one at a time and finish the battle with full health. Sure it might take you a couple of minutes because of all the adds that walk in or spawn next tou you, but it really feels impressive if your done to be standing on a pile of dead Dwarves.

And also they can kick their foes in the nuts! Except with dwarves. If you try to kick them you plant your feet right in the face.Call me childish but it looks really funny.

Chosen of the same level, with almost the exact same weapon as me *kills* me in damage. it's not even close and i have no idea why...

However, i take hits better then him fairly well. with my two aoe attacks, two taunts and save da runt on my healer, i was able to tank and hold a hero and 4 champs of the same level as me while the rest of the group focused on the champs one at a time. (there were 6 champs total) I tend to use 'da toughest' as my bellow, so im healing while i fight (this bellow is why i chose orc over chosen) and i do switch between 2h and sword and board, along with switching my tactics on a regular basis to fit what ever it is im doing.

as far as solo, i dont have a big problem pulling and killing 5 or more mobs of the same general level as me. once the number gets up close to 10, i start to get nervous then, but thats still manageable most of the time. they die pretty fast using the AoEs.

I thought maybe they were supposed to be the equivalents at first, but when I played them, IB gets all kinds of neat things long, long, long before BO does.

My BO is like level 12.. You gotta love them. They kick people in the nads.. Who wouldn't love a class that can kick someone Right in Da Jibblies?

I know the original question was Black orc, chosen, and ironbreaker but what about the swordmaster? I am wondering about their tanking abilities. Thanks

Ironbreaker easily. And this comes from someone who has a rank 25 Swordmaster and a rank 6 Ironbreaker and immediately you know the Ironbreaker is bettter. There is no disadvantage to the grudge system. It's easy to get 100 grudge and it makes the IB's skills much better than the other tanks. Plus the oathfriend buffs they have, to suggest a tank to anyone outside of an ironbreaker is silly. The only reason I'm continuing with my Swordmaster up to 40 and not rerolling the Ironbreaker as my main is because I have hopes they fix it because right now it has a lot of problems. If you need to play a combo tank, Black Orc is superior in every way to a Swordmaster.
