Time to help out BerekFollow

Yes, I know computers well, but I'm honestly stumped at this serious problem I have currently. Maybe you can help me out, so I thought I'd post my dilemma here :).

The problem: Warhammer Online does not function properly since yesterday.

The symptoms: Login all the way to selecting a character works fine, but connecting to the server to play the character after selection, which starts fine, doesn't appear to make any progress. No errors, it doesn't stop or freeze, it just keeps trying to connect (the icon in the lower right of the screen is indication of it working).

Time of occurrence: Yesterday sometime after a patch. The game upon checking patch needs gave an error, but went away upon restarting the computer.

Attempted resolutions: First the restart, but then I completely uninstalled the game and reinstalled it fresh. Patched it up and the problem remained. I also enabled the warpatch.exe file for open firewall access to be sure (although this shouldn't be necessary).

I'll be updating drivers again to see if that is a problem, as I haven't done that yet since this problem occurred.

Has anyone else had this problem occur, and were you able to resolve it? If there are any ideas anyone else has, please let me know! I can't play (on my fast computer anyway) until this is resolved and I'm sure you understand that it pains me to be on a slow computer (AthlonXP 64 1.8GHz 7900gs) for such a long period of time :). The same thing happened to me this evening. It goes into an endless loop after a disconnect. It does appear to be a server side issue. My system runs the game fine, and is fairly current. I logged off for a bit, hoping it will let me back on.

Why does this happen when you've got the boss down to 3/4 health!

So have you been able to get onto the game since this error? Your system is slow but there are some very unusual server symptoms if you ask me. It reminds me of WoW when you crash, and then you can't log back in because it says you are already in the realm. Frustrating!

Are you on a beta driver, or a release from the manufacturer's website? If it is not from the manufacturer, try downloading their two most recent ones and trying them individually.

Any issues with any other games or programs that leads you to think it isn't just War?

Did you have the beta client of warhammer? Or do you have the DVD install version? I've heard there are some noticeable performance differences in different situations. Nothing I can put my finger on right now.

Are you able to create a character on another server and log into that one? As someone else said, I have had similar issues but it was always server specific. I would be unable to log into my destruction server but could log into my order server fine.

I guess it could be something with the router (though that seems unlikely). I suppose something could be blocking the port that it actually uses to connect to the server itself. Maybe check any firewall software you are running as well.

I've got to agree with you Berek - the game is buggy. I have a feeling they'll work through it. My hubby is a sr. network admin and he built my system specifically for these games. He was really irked when I started getting the black screen and no signal stuff. Clock speeds, cooling fan speeds, all kinds of stuff was adjusted - lost me by this time. Officially my video card was not overheating. The driver updates helped a lot, but once in a while the darn game will crash. Takes me back to Leisure Suit Larry says - Save Early, Save Often!
