Will we have holidays in WAR?Follow

#1 Sep 14 2008 at 10:12 AM Rating: Decent
Just a simple question asking if Mythic will be bringing events to WAR during holidays.

Anyone play DAoC that remembers if Mythic did anything special around Halloween, Christmas, etc.... ?

I know that war happens, and during war we should be focusing on killing the enemy... but I would like to do so with candy in my pocket and a mask on my face.... and the whole countryside lit up with lights!

If you mean like they do in FFXI.... I doubt it. I always did like that about FF though.

Personally I wouldn't mind holidays, but I'd like them to fit in with lore. No real-world holidays or cast-offs. Something entirely different, yet fitting to the world.

I wouldn't mind seeing holidays in the game. I always find it fun to have something "extra" to do at different points through the year.

This thread made me think of the "holiday" in Terry Pratchett's world (fantasy writer) where the Dwarves and Trolls get really drunk on the anniversary of an Epic past battle and then fight to the death. Something like that might work.

If they dress up an orc in a santa suit I will not be impressed.

A monthly cycle of events that are not connected to anything human real-world would be alright though. Like every April the cold ones breed and half the world is overun by the little brood...

Who doesn't like beer drinking holidays??

I think they can do something, as long as there are no easter eggs to find. :P

In EverQuest 2 there are holidays that mirror the RL holidays, but not exactly. XMas becomes Frostfell, St. Valentines becomes Erolisi Day, etc.

It maintains the in-game lore approach but still gives us a little seasonal fun.

IIRC, it just the same holiday with a differant name for the most part, still a bunch of horrible decorations that dont really fit into teh game at all.

Mirrored holidays feel half-assed to me :(
