Open RvR of course. I know it isn't perfect yet, but it's better than playing on a server where people can grief without consequence. Plus I'd hate to have to reroll my toons if they finally made Open servers exactly like they should be.

so if theres a warband of lvl 21s slaughtering lvl 1s, and no ones around to stop them, thats not griefing without consequence?

First off, if you leave chapter 1 before you get to level 3+ then you've done something wrong.

Secondly, your own realm will take care of this. It happened in WoW even after BG's were introduced. Add in the fact you can queue from anywhere and I promise you the lowbies will be taken care of.

Eventually they'd have to face another warband of level 19-21s. Maybe even two. They couldn't do it unopposed.

There's more to griefing players than just high level players killing low level players. As it stands right now with the core ruleset, at pretty much any rank, especially 40, I could go back and run all questing for the enemy realm at tier 1.

Jackasses will find ways to grief players no matter what type of server they play on. But they are much more protected on a core server than they are on a open server.

I honestly wouldn't feel bad at all if I was the low levels being attacked by higher levels. I'd quest in the areas they weren't at or just queue up and do scenarios until they get bored just like I would quest in other areas in WoW when the kiddies where going gank crazy.

youd be surprised, especially if the population trends stay vastly in favour of Destruction, it would be easy for Destruction to grief the **** out of Order.

Please bear in mind that I've made my choice, and you can chose whatever you like, but consider this:

OPEN Servers have no bolstering in PvP areas. What does this mean exactly?

On a CORE server, when you enter a PvP zone, you get your rank temporarily raised to a predetermined rank (8 in teir 1, 18 in teir 2 etc). This is to enable ALL players participating in the RvR to be able to contribute in some way. It also means on a CORE server, you can effectively rank up via PvP only if you like. It'd be a bit slower, but more power to you.

Forget greifing by rank 30 players on rank 11 players. When you rank up to 11, and need to move to tier 2, you'll be competeing in open RvR against players much higher than you. Thats not even including the players from teir 3 coming back to act tough.

Also, if you group up with players more than about 4 ranks higher/lower than you everyone takes a big exp hit.

Unless your in a very large and highly organised guild, in order to participate in all this wonderful PvP you are all expecting, your going to be forced to PvE so much more just to be competitive in PvP. Sure, you can still PvP like crazy, but your going to rank up so slowly your just going to be falling further behind.

You still get bolstered in Scenarios on an Open Server.

I'm making my fiance roll on a core server with me. I played WoW on a PVP server and though it was sometimes a blast, I've grown tired of watching my back all the time. Besides, I prefer to play support/healing roles, so RvR is only fun when I have people to back me up. It's fine on the weekends when my fiance can log on with me, but during the weekdays I play alone. I'd rather play on a server where I have a choice when to RvR.

That's weird. Healers are the best 1v1 archetype in this game, at least in the early tiers.

The xp you get from open RvR is negligible, and since you'll still be bolstered for Scenario.

So yeah, you can still level via pvp... mainly because when people level via pvp, they do by Scenario, not by open RVR.

Just like they did in WoW back when Alliance had a 2:1 ratio?

I played through that. I had fun. In many way, more fun then I do now in the hyper-carebear version that WoW has become in recent days.

And there's nothing wrong with that :)
