My friend and me are in on the open beta now and we want to play together (duh). However she wants to be a high elf and I want to be human..erm...empire. I was told that there is a way we can play together right from rank 1 without sacrificing any content/enjoyment/whatever, through some means of teleportation? Can anyone clarify this for me and give me specifics on if/how I can play with my friend whilst both enjoying the classes we prefer?

Thanks in advance!

Yes. Do your first quest to get 60 brass for flight fee. Then take a 5 minute jog down to the flight master, ask him to whisk you away to you girlfriend, watch a short travel cinematic, and then walk 5 minutes back to her main camp. The whole endeavor should take you less than 15 minutes.

See this link for directions.

There is a second option as well, which takes even less time.

Simply party up as soon as you login using /invite "Insert Friends name here"

Then both of you click the scenario button on the upper left side of your mini mapand select join as a party.

When your turn in the scenario comes up, you both can join from wherever you are in the world, and play
together in the scenario, then it drops you back where ever you were before. This allows you to explore your own racial area a bit and not miss out of the inital story for your race, but still play together in the early stages.

Thanks alot guys, that was perfect. One more quick/stupid question: As I've been levelling up in the designated empire ares I've occasionally been granted rewards specifically tailored for paladin....erm, warrior priests. If I switch over to the high elf area to level up with my friend, will I be deprived of these career specific quest rewards?

I haven't been!

As a matter of fact, I flipped out in one scenario because on a piece of zealot armor 4 people in my group rolled need. Then my husband politely (if slightly scared) said that as his Black Orc, he noticed it was a Black Orc item.

So apparently, scenarios at least - you won't lose out. Now as my zealot I've gotten zero world drops I can use. But my chosen, shaman, black orc, and witch elf have all gotten stuff for themselves.

Filian,

You don't miss out at all on job/race specific gear if your questing in another battlefront (Racial pairing). Any PQ's you complete and gain loot for always have an item you can use in the bag. It may not be better than what you have depending on the Chapter PQ your doing, but generally they are nice items.

Influence rewards are always job specific, so no matter where your collecting the rewards they will apply to you. Scenarios seem to drop fairly even amounts of gear for all jobs. Bear in mind, that doesn't mean you won't see your job drop in every one, just that it balances out.

Random world drops seem to me at a glance to favour the races who's lands your fighting in, but that would make sense to me I guess. It is still OB however, and it may be more even in release.

Also, unless your doing lots and lots of scenarios, or your really grinding the PQ's, you'll more than likely need to do more than just your own racial quests, at least in tier 2. While there are a mountain of quests available, its doubtful you will get enough xp to hit 20 without moving around a bit.
