For those of you who haven't played yet, what race/class has you the most interested?

For those of you who have had a chance to play, which one has taken your fancy?

Personally I'm quite taken with the Goblin Squig Herder and those Witch Hunters order-side, if only because the Witch Hunters wield a gun and a sword at the same time (and that just looks cool). I'm hoping in the higher levels I like it all the more than just for looks.

For the longest time I was leaning towards Zealot, but after reading some elder beta tester comments I believe Shaman is actually more like what I want to do.

The only 2 I got to try in Beta was Witch Hunter and Sorceress. The Sorceress was more my cup of tea, but I gotta say I am tempted to play a Witch Elf. :)

I've had fun with every class I've tried except the Witch Hunter and Runepriest.
I didn't like the Witch Hunter because it's mechanic works just like the Rogue in WoW
I didn't like the Runepriest because I just can't stand playing a Dwarf

The Empire Bright Wizard/Dark Elf Sorceror has been my favorite damage dealer: The combustion bar is so fun to toy around with.
The Goblin Shaman is my favorite healer. Even though I've played it's equal, the Archmage, I like their background and aesthetics more.
The Black Orc is really quite fun. Bringin' da gud plan out to smash dem stunties was fun.

I haven't tried Chaos, as it seems really overloaded in their starting place any time

Dwarven Engineer....nothing like popping out a Flamethrowing Turret and lobbing grenades at people. They have great ranged abilities and good melee damage. Have had quite a bit of fun with him so far.

I'm stuck between getting into shaman or going back to disciple of khaine. The DOK i felt wasn't really a healer as much as it was just a jack of all trades that could melee dps. It reminds me of redmage in ffxi. Practically invincible but suffers somewhat since it's hard to dps and heal (although it is a very fun class). I think shaman is more of what i'm into though, i'm a healer/range dps at heart and that's where i like to be in the fray

I cant decide if I am going to do Bright Wizard or Witch hunter......Leaning more towards Wizard cause I love caster classes and enjoy the way they play. Its kinda fun knowing your fragile and you have the worry of not letting ur foes get too close whilst burning them down...keeps the blood pumpin :-)

I have already planned on playing a Disciple of Khaine on live and I'm about 2 hours away from getting to try it out for the first time. The mechanics look like it will take some practice, but it looks like a definate class worth mastering.

I also have high interest in High Elf Swordmasters. That will definately be the first Order toon I roll.

Edit: Since PW, definately a Dark Elf Sorceress will be my first main. Too much fun.

Add more skin tones you mean? Since they have a few choices already built in when you create your character? I foresee me having a bit of trouble in the future when I create my characters with choosing the skin tone I like best.

Disciple of Khaine is by far my favorite so far. Soloing...throw a H.O.T. on and kick ass. In a group...melee until you need to heal, rinse repeat.

I made one of almost everything and played it to lvl 7 or so, I know not that high, but I'm having fun. My ranking in order of what I have played so far.

Dark Elf-disciple of khaine
Dark Elf-Sorceress
Chaos-Magus
Empire-Witch Hunter
Chaos-Marauder
Green Skin-Shaman

Well maybe I didn't play everything, but I was having a lot of fun. Sorry Shamans, I hated it. **** starting skills, I did read the skill tree later on and it gets better, but for the first few levels it sucks. Lvl 40 AOE rez that sounds pretty cool.

I know I spent a good 10 minutes working on the skin tone for my mage. Certainly will be the same with WAR.

I will play a Squig Herder.

I tried it, loved it.

I also tried Marauder (bof), Battle priest (big bof), Swordmaster (fun), and Sorceress (so fun that I almost thought about not doing SH).

But I like pet jobs!
#28 Aug 24 2008 at 9:13 PM Rating: Decent
I like them all.

The only ones I have problems with are the aesthetics of the Elf faces and hairstyles...

The High Elf female faces (I only looked at the female High Elf faces, not the males) makes me cringe. Something about their eyes and how they looked "alien" to me.

With the female Dark Elf faces... I guess I didn't pay much attention to them to see if they were the same way... I just noticed how the few I scanned through looked like I was making an Amy Winehouse character, so I tried for a male Dark Elf.... which leads me to...

What is the deal with the male Dark Elf hairstyles (I only looked at the male Dark Elves, not the male High Elves)? Every single one of their hairstyles makes them look VERY feminine.

With that being said... and hoping that Mythic gives enough character slots... I will have at least one of each class and I will hash out which gender later.

I'm leaning towards an Ironbreaker and possibly a Swordsmaster, though I may go with a Warrior Priest or Witch Hunter.

I am rolling an engi I mean come on you are a one man artilery unit. I play Dwarfs, Chaos, Empire, and Wood Elves in the minature version I love using ranged attacks like the artilery train of Nuln, 70% gun units/artilery dwarf army, and near 100% archery on the wood elves. I am gonna wait on rolling a caster till the Lizardmen come out those guys rock.

Cheers

Witch Hunter is my career of chioce at the moment, I kinda like the dark and mysterious ways they inhabit whilst being holy demon fighters.

And as the OP says: The ability to wield guns and swords at the same time, that just looks bad-ass

The ongoing discussions with my real-life friends I am rolling into Warhammer with have us kind of split at the moment. If we end up Destruction I will be taking a serious look at Goblin Shaman with minimal interest outside of that (for now). If we go Order I'm inclined for Shadow Warrior but will have to try most of the High elf classes and Witch Hunter just to be sure I don't miss something I'd prefer.

I do want a solid idea going into launch though. Part of the lure of WAR for me is the idea of starting fresh with my entire server community.

"Now that open Beta has concluded. what career will you be rolling for launch?" would be an interesting poll to see happen (once the open beta is done of course).

I am sure that all the talk about destro and order having similar break downs, as far as numbers per side/server, will dissipate once the retail launches. This is under the assumption that you won't be able to roll both sides on one server a la WoW(If I am wrong about this, please disregard lol).

Anyways, I am going to keep the essence of my Blood Elf Paladin(Chair) alive in my Empire Warrior Priest(Klondikebar).

It will most likely be a Shaman here. I have a friend who's going to go Black Orc so that should be fun. In open beta I'm going to check out the Ironbreaker, Runepriest, Warrior Priest, Brightwizzard, and Sword Master. Should be good times. Marauder may be my alt eventually but they seem like they'll be in abundance.

You too? T_T It doesn't help that I'm practically always wearing my SH ... it'll take some getting used to thinking of what it means in WAR while I'm there, and FFXI while I'm there.

I played both class to level 10 in the beta, so I know they are fun.

I actually intend to play something else entirely during the open beta however, I don't feel like 're-leveling' the same class back to back.

can't decide.

I've always preferred the "stand way back and burn holes in them so you don't get your clothes dirty" toons. (The army put me into artillery - over the years I've gamed, I've always wondered if they're test was that good at picking my suitability or if their training set my preferences.)

I learned early on in WoW that there were always too many NE hunters and never enough priests, so I rolled a priest and surprised myself: not only was I a damned good primary healer (imho), but that it was fun and that priests got invited to a lot more raids than anyone else.

So I'm going to end up somewhere in the support or ranged dps most likely. Though witch hunter does look sorta cool.

I'm still trying to decide which side to fight on first. I.e. which side has the lowest population of whiny 12 YOs.
