So does anyone know what is going on with the Warhammer beta? It kind of worries me that they cancelled it. Makes me wonder where this game really stands.

Along with the UO team "cleaning" and the transferring of the Redwood studio to Fairfax I am so scared that EA is going to destroy what Mythic started.
But only time will tell. They've created a lot of hype (way to early) and have a lot to live up to.
I hope for the best, because otherwise, I gotta go back to DAoC for decent PvP!

They had better not kill this game. It's one of the most anticipated out there. I love/loved DAoC but the community is in shambles. I want WAR!

The Beta was never canceled. The Beta was closed back on 10/10 in order to prepare for the next phase of said Beta. When it originally closed it was stated that the Beta would be reopening in mid-December with a ton of new content. It was supposed to reopen yesterday (12/13) but was pushed back 5 days till 12/18 for some finishing touches to make sure it is ready to be reopened to the public.
To my knowledge the development of WAR is still going strong and shows no signs of wavering, it is still planned for the game to be released second quarter of 2008, most likely sometime around June.

so it should be released Q4 08-Q1 09 then.

Back in closed beta; hopefully it will go open soon.
I still want a spot there, but if you read the latest podcast and the latest video you will see why they are going to be closing/opening the beta so much, some kind of "Targeted Testing" or something like that.
They basically give you (And hopefully me too... Pweety please beta spot) the chance to test specific spots of the game, at different times.
