Returning player - which downloads?Follow

#1 Apr 27 2008 at 2:25 AM Rating: Decent
I've decided to return to DAoC for a while after many years away. I've also decided to start over from the trial download to see if I really do want to come back.

The question I have is regarding exactly which bits I need to download. Currently I'm getting the following:

- The trial
- The trial to Catacombs installer

Since I plan to play on the classic servers I have no need for ToA, but what else do I need?

- Does the current trial include SI? (I understand it does from various forum posts and since there's no download for SI separately)
- Do I need to download New Frontiers or is it included in the trial now? If so, where is it?
- Do I need to download Foundations? If so, is this the correct place to get it from: http://www.camelotherald.com/housing/downloads.php

Also, are Darkness Rising and Labyrinth playable on classic if I decide I want those later?

Thanks.

sounds like you got all you need. NF, foundations and ToA will be included in the download, even if you play on classic and you can't access ToA. Once you try to start first time, the patcher will take over and update the Catacombs client to the most recent version of the patch.

Darkness Rising and Labyrinth are both available on classic. Those two are not free and you would have to purchase them in-game. On your account screen, you can just pay for them there. there is a $10 discount to buy them both. You would then just need to download those clients as well (and you could even erase your old client files..each new client just needs the one before it to "copy", and then becomes its own working folder.

Another way, which may be cheaper is to purchase the Epic Edition. In general, the epic edition is already cheaper than paying for the two newest expansions in game (like $15 instead of $29.99 or whatever it is). Also, I believe you get the first month free, so if that is still true, it pays for itself and you would download almost everything from disc instead of the painfully slow downloader. You can find it on amazon.com last I checked or just google it.

Yet another good idea, I found a brand new copy of the 5th Anniversary DAoC which has every expansion available on 1 disc for only 10$. I thought it was a steal so I went ahead and got it.
