Hey everyone, my wife and I are returning to DAoC, though we are both still technically new to the game, our last foray being during the ToA release, and only managing to get to level 16. I just wanted to ask a few questions to get a feel for the 'new' DAoC.

First I see a lot of mentioning of 'buff-bots' what are those exactly? Also am I to understand that ToA content is basically raid content? If that's the case then the Classic realms may be more our speed, having been burned out on raiding in WoW, and the likelihood of finding raids with the low pop seems nil as well.

I understand that the Classic servers remove the ToA Master abilities and Artifacts (which I am thinking from the descriptions I've seen are raid-centric items)and the ToA zones (which are only useful if you want to get the ToA stuff), but do they still retain all the Catacombs stuff? What about Champion levels and mounts? If you don't have Master level abilities can you still get Champion levels?

Are there any spec/classes that are discriminated against? Are there classes that are always welcomed into a group no matter what? I ask because it seems every game I play this is the case. Wanted to see if it was true here as well.

Is questing a viable way to level up now? Or is it still a pull mob/kill/pull/kill grind like it used to be? If both are equally viable then which nets xp the quickest? I've seen reports of people getting to high levels in a matter of days now, so want to find out if this rumor is true, and get an idea of how to accomplish that, at least to some minor extent.

How is the economy? Are things set at ridiculous prices because of the low pop? Or are they reasonable? Is money easy or hard to get? Is farming required to get things you want?

Okay that's it I swear lol. Sorry for all the questions and the long post, but I hope someone can answer these questions so I know what to expect as we get further into the game. Thanks in advance for any input and info that people can share.

First of all welcome back, I'll try to give my anwswers (read: opinions) in order:
First, buffbots refers to peeps using two or more accounts to stick a cleric shaman or druid in a keep or something and use it to buff them up before they run all over God's creation.

As far as TOA the content is basically quests and they've been nerfed to be do-able with a full group, some are solo and the highest level encounters in ML9 and 10 are bg required, the artifact encounters may still need a bg, but I don't recall. ALL ml's and artifacts can be "purchased" with bounty points, gained from RVR in New Frontiers, so you don't actually have to do any encounters, also there are BP only items you can buy in each realm's border keep.

If you decide you don't want the uber TOA items and go classic you still have access to the Champion level as long as you have the DR and Lab expansions. No restrictions there but the CL abilities are designed to have "minimal" impact on the endgame. Cata stuff is everywhere and so no restriction on that either.

As far as discrimination, the only classes that I know from experience that get discriminated against openly are Assassins, unless you group with other inf's, ns's, or sb's, Archer classes are usually overlooked in groups and of course Vamps, no one will group a vamp unless it means their group won't be full.

Leveling up with quests and the task dungeons in catacombs expansion are good ways to go, just beware of quests that have you running all over the place to finish them, you may want to have an extra excuse or two to go to the area that the quest specifys.

Pricing on the housing merchants is pretty nuts if you plan on getting anything that's new. There's always a bunch of hype about stuff, like lab stuff was crazy expensive 8 months ago now it's almost reasonable, just like the new revamped dragon loot is now. I expect within a few more months the dragon stuff will come down in price, and DON'T FORGET to shop around on different servers, the Jeniuses at mythic haven't gotten around to clustering the market explorer to include the other servers you have access to, so that means porting back and forth comparision shopping. btw 30 plat for any dragon drop bracer?! WTH is wrong with you people!? Farming is always cheaper, but sometimes you have to wonder what you're holding onto the money for in the first place.
