Two questions.
If you change your face and look etc in the Catacombs main menu I find that I am not able to change it again....I heard that there is a NPC somewhere that you can talk to...any clues?
Also....if you go into an area that is way below your level...I understand that you find a portal that is blue and right click to go to an area suited for you..anyone confirm

There is an npc in the upper crypt, near the obelisk that will give you a face respec on your character, as many times as you want (though only one at a time).
I think the portals you are asking about are the obelisks. It won't tkae you imediatly to an area that is more appropirate to you. They are sort of like toa djin stones, but you have to activate each portal before you can go to it using the main obelisk in the upper crypt.
