Greetings,

I am trying DAoC and wondering if there are any differences between the servers? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

There are regular servers and role-play servers which both use the same rule-set. The difference (supposedly) is the people. You'll enjoy yourself better on the role-play servers if that is what you like to do. If you prefer a less restrictive, play on the regular servers.

There is a PvP server called Mordred. It is pretty much open PvP everywhere. You can play on all realms and therefore have 24 (soon to be 30) characters on that server (8 in each realm, which will be increased to 10 per realm with Catacombs expansion). I'm not familiar with the rule-set on Mordred because I don't play PvP but the rule-set is posted when you log into the game and is also available at camelotherald.com.

The last type of server is the cooperative server. Like Mordred, you can have characters in all realms, whereas on the regular and role-play servers you may only have characters in one realm per server. There is NO PvP on the cooperative server, not even RvR. NPCs replace players in the frontiers and you earn your realm points by slaying them, not other players. Like Mordred, you can also travel all realms (not just the frontiers) freely, regardless of what realm your character hails from.

So, if you are a die-hard pvp'er, choose Mordred. If you are at the opposite end of the spectrum and abhor pvp, choose Gaheris. If you like having the choice and don't mind being restricted to one realm per server, choose a regular server, and if you also enjoy role-playing and don't want to name your character "l33td00d," choose a role-play server.

Thanks for the reply. Trying out a couple different servers to see how I like it.
