Well really there is no magic formula Best spec. And there is not a HUGE difference between 3/4 and 2/3 really (2/3 = 33, 3/4 = 37). Naturally the higher your slash skill, the higher the damage you will do with a slash weapon. It really only gets critical if you are planning on being hybrid spec, using a shield as well as a polearm. Otherwise your only specs to really worry about are polearm, slash, and parry, which you will have plenty of points for since Arms gets 2.5 times their level in skill points. My Polearms is full pole, with 50 pole/50 slash and the rest parry. I did use a couple leftover points on xbow but xbow is really useless except as a range pull (get the most expensive bolts for good range).
Others might say I should have gone lower in slash and used more points on parry, and they might be right but love the damage.
If you wanna be a hybrid polearms, just rememeber you are gonna have to have 42 in shield for Slam, and you want tops in damage so need to be high enough in both pole and slash for that, plus you need parry. Then it gets complicated.
I think the following is a good spec for offensive hybrid:
50 pole
42 shield
39 slash
the rest in Parry
Or, only 44 pole, giving you more points for parry.
My polearms was originally specced that way but I just didn't like fooling with switching shield/pole in a battle and do enjoy the extra damage I can now do.
If you are gonna be defensive in RVR many say to go 50 in slash rather than pole, but if you did that you would be a sword/shield tank and not a polearms, since you would then have none of the polearm styles, and you cant use slash styles with a polearm.
