Hi Razieth. I don't know the definitive answer, but I'll tell you what everyone told me when I first started: Savage is the best class for a newcomer. I 'rolled' a Valkyn savage for my first character about a month ago, and I'm now at level 22.

I thought Berserker sounded cool, but I've heard a lot of complaints that that class has been 'nerfed' recently.

Thane sounds pretty cool too. Try one of each and see which one is more fun!

Good luck

warriors are probably the best IMO for begginers. you get to learn how combat works, and dont have to worry about being a caster (which can at times be a real PAIN unless you know the tweaks).

warriors- the typical d&d fighter. big sword/axe/hammer and big shield, and can still use ranged weapons to pull.

casters- have low hp so get lots of trips to visit the bind stone. But can out damage melee fighters in a short battle. (wizards from any movie)

healers- have no offense. (MEDIC!)

shamys- get damage over time, bolts and if cave spec can do some really nice damage but have no weapon styles.

hunters- nice with bow/spear but you have to buy ALOT of arrows.

shadowblades- good for pvp but hard to solo since crit shot is based on stealth. assasins basically

berserkers- nice damage output but not so great for defending other players (also nicknamed werehamsters due to shapechange picture) ((left axe nerf wasnt as deadly to them vs left axe of shadowblades))

skald/thanes- hybrids. nice supporting cast but low hp vs warriors don't let them stay in the fight as long. but they both add to a group. thanes ARE Thor when casting lightning bolts

savage- kinda like a buffed berserker, but having spells that do damage to me after they run out. EEK :(

but all in all try a class for about 10 lvls (good days workout) and if you dont like it. just make a new toon. soon you will get the hang of the game and see what you really like vs dont like.

Are you the type that likes to bite someone from the shadows? look into hunter/shadowblade.
Wana help others? healer, shamy, suppression spec runy are good.
Do you like hitting things on the head till they dead? warrior, berserker, savage.

HAHA Hibs always trying to recruit in our section. Anyhow, I'm an Alt nut, every class rocks. If it's been "nerfed" who cares man, if it sounds cool to you BE IT! Be a Zerker man, don't listen to anyone else, BUT if whats appealing to you about zerker is a insane suicidal warrior, then Savage might be a good idea. I die like very 5 mins with my savage, but ill tell ya It looks like he uses piles of bodys for a grave if you get my meaning.

Mmmm... Ur first toon... I would go for a support class, like Healer or Shamy, or a caster, because when u begin the game u dont have any money and its hard to level a Melee class without good gear... So if u take a Thane or a Zerker, and u dont have a Shamy bot, ur gonna /cry ur way to 50th, begging for gold and gear, and its going to be a long ride... If you go for Shamy or Healer, its easy to find grps, ur not obligated to have the best gear because ur not supposed to get hit ! Everyone wants a Healer and a Shamy in a grp, and when u get to 50th and that u have plenty of gold, u can create a /level 20 Zerker or Thane, and its gonna WAY easier to lvl :)
