What is the best friar to go for speccing PvE? I play on Gaheris and so far I have created a healing/enhancements friar. He can solo orange plateds right now but almost dying.

if you can do that, then you are doing something very good, so i would say that that is one of the best ways to go for friar.

At 36 Friar I have max staff ( sometimes 1 less than max depending on lvl) and dumping the rest into enhancement. I can take ojs pretty safely as long as they arent strong to blunt. I also dish enough dmg in PTs that I have to occasionally detaunt to keep agro off of me even if the tank is spamming a taunt style. Most of my items are the highest + dex I can find ( or have made). Solo I evade like a mad man and hit hard. In a PT I can function as main healer for anything less than grape. Anything more than that and Im only good for backup ( but save the main alot of power).

make a SC suit leather and you will do fine keep enhance around your level and staff at most 2-3 levels behind it. As long as you have a decent staff. you can chain yellows and oj's all night long till the game cheats and spawns a higher level mob.

Ra's dodger is the bomb to bad mythic is dropping it. my friar evades more at dodger 1 than my inf at dodger 2 not quite sure why, but it seems that way. Most of my battles with friar is evade parry evade parry and so on I almost never get hit pve wise. The only tank out there thats gonna keep agro better than you is Pally.

Keep in mind that you don't have to spec 50 staff. I only went 39 for defenders fury last chain for the evade and still hit mobs for 150 or so. Get one thats week to crush and your gonna be amazed.

right now I am a very balanced friar...like 23 staff, 21 enhance...and 23 rejuv with like 15 in parry. I can solo the occasional oj, buff myself and my teamates well, and act as primary healer, secondary healer, main tank, or assist tank in groups. In fact I get about as many rps in bg3 from rezzing and healing as tanking. I think this is the intent of the friar. Truly flexible. I intend to final spec to like 25 rejuv...45 enhance...39 staff...and rest in pary. Right now I am dex, quick, and hits capped from my sc'd armor. My one true weakness is @#?*&^ arrows. I'm like a combination of pincushion and magnet for arrows. Not a good feeling. Any ideas to strengthen that weakness?

I stopped my friar at 18 rejuv, but lots do take it to 25. The bottom line is, you're not going to ever heal as well as a cleric, no matter what you do, and it will become more and more apparent as you level that you will only be able to function as primary healer in very specific situations (i.e., you have plate-wearing tanks and/or PBT).

In RvR, everyone now knows to take out friars with arrows - it's dangerous to get too close. You may get over for a little while by disguising yourself as a caster - take off the cap, where ambiguous robes and carry an ambiguous staff. Have your licking stick ready in case someone gets close.

Thanks,
I suppose I can try to pretend as much as possible. It would be nice if Mythic gave us some method to minimize that weakness with a realm ability...something like ninja arrow grab lol. I really like the power and flexibility of my friar. I want to be able to level to 50 and play in rvr at least passibly. I mean even a cleric can wear chain right. If they remove dodger they need to increase to evade 6 or somehow increase the defense of friars more to compensate...I also like the idea of a group purge or incombat minor instant heal for the group. Either would improve the groupability of friars. Pallies and friars are truly similar...friars have more buffs, pallies more defense. Pallies have chants in combat. Friars should to, even if not very powerful. I like group purge the best though...maybe make it a part of standard rejuv line like cure poison and disease but make it cost alot of power.

G'day from an aussie DAOCer. My 50 friar has the less used path of 50 staff, 40 enhance, 11 rejuv and 18 parry. This might not be completely accurate haven't played him for over a month but it's close. All i can say is i'm missing the red self-buffs for AF, dex/qui, abs and the speed buff. I went for 50 staff thinking i'd get more dmg to make up for the lower abs and dex/qui, but it doesn't seem like the case. I can still solo reds no probs, but a red soldier in Av city is harder than a red just about anywhere else.

to recommend a spec, i'd go 39 staff, 48 enhance, 15 rejuv for the 30% rez and the rest in parry. the style excommunicate i got at 50 staff doesn't seem that fantastic, i do use it but not much, looking to spend the 5-8 plat it costs for a respec stone and change to this myself, or go on a dragonraid and roll for a stone.

best of luck and enjoy your gaming
