#1 Jan 18 2004 at 4:53 PM Rating: Default
i have a lvl 50 shamen on bors and tired of being a healer. I want to make a solid pve character but having alot of trouble doing so. Im kinda picky and i want to be a caster because i hate using styles. I know the Midgard land very well and that is why i want to stay here. What should i make and how should i spec?

Well

If U want PVE in grp then SM is the way to go.
Every one want em and with a pac healer they kill.

BD is prolly the best solo PVE but U'll have a hard time finding grp,s and don't do anyway near the dam of a SM (supp spec ofc).

One thing you may want to take into consideration...SM's are power hogs, while they may pull 10 blues to a BD's 5 mobs, the BD will still be chain pulling while the SM sits on his *** to med :) Also SM's are paper dolls and are easily greased when hit by a couple mobs. BD's in my opinion are the best farming/PvE class.

ya man, i definatly agree with you. Skalds kick some serious *** in PvE, even though i myself prefer stealthers. By the way, i started a SB and im not sure wether to spec him more in crit strike or stealth? Right now i got most in crit strike and i 1 hit an Enchanter. I guess that's pretty good. Any info would be good please. Thanks.

I have both a SM and a BD. The SM is lvl 50 and the BD is lvl 35. I love em' both, the SM is not what you want if you want to solo. The BD is almost invincible at solo'ing. The SM is great in a group with a stunner, healer, and possibly a few more SM's. There is no more deadly group up close than this (how about 15 to 25 red and purp mobs per pull). I Made lvl 50 in almost no time (starting at 30). The BD on the other hand can kill reds (more than one at a time) and easily handles chain pulling orange (if i get a POM) non stop. The biggest problem you can run into with the BD is the stupid healer pet getting agro and running off. Anyway if you make either you'll have a lot of fun. Hope I helped narrow it down a bit for you.

Kinda old, but anyways...

The SM is a soloer if its Darkness specced. I think everyone is talking about a suppression spec. Ive tried both and unless you have a pac healer and puller, you cant really level decently, and are definately not a solo class.
Darkness is pretty simple, send in pet, let it take a few wacks, and DD to 50% power. Rinse and repeat. PBAE Mez is nice for saving yourself when you get adds. AE Mez is nice for greatfor breaking spawns into single pulls, and allowing you to get group bonus while still fighting safetly.
My favorite Midgard soloer. Plus you get nice debuffs, so find yourself a Runecarving Runemaster and you make a sick combo. 50% debuff for energy and 50% debuff for cold. You can drop stuff like crazy. If the RM puts extra pts into Suppression, you have confuse, and then you can DD your heart out while the pet takes the hits.
