I've been spending so much time reading the forums and trying to unlock blue mage for days. The problem is I'm kind of new and I can't figure out how to get to the white gates. I've done the Wildcat quest and it won't let me finish because I haven't been to the white gates in Art Urhgan yet.
The latest thing I've tried is http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/The_Road_to_Aht_Urhgan . Apparently I'm supposed to talk to Faursel, however when I go to Neptune's Spire I don't see him there and I try to get in every room but they're locked and there is one guy standing in the hallway who just tells me to go away and doesn't let me into a room.
I really want to unlock blue mage and I've waisted days reading and trying to figure this out. Can someone please help me!

I know that much, I just can't figure out how to get to Art Urhgan for the life of me. :(
Need to be a member of Tenshodo to get into the back area. Talk to the mithra behind counter and choose third option (invisible) think she tells you what to do. If not go to Port Bastok in one of the warehouses is the npc you trade the item she gives to you. Return to her and you are a member.
Another option, buy the tenshodo invite from the ah. The elvaan you are looking for is in the room you now have acess too. Get yourself all six sub job items to trade in for the quest.
