Hello everyone,
I have a lvl 70 BLM and a BLM Testimony. A day after i did the Moggiebag quest for the 2010 anniversary of FFXI I reached lvl 70 and decided it was time to go fight Maat. However when i went to speak with Maat he told me the following...
"Not a while ago a san d'orian boy--halver, i think his name was--came through here, i wonder what business he had at the duchy..."
He just keeps repeating this text over and over to me. I don't believe i have any special missions flagged right now to cause this. I did complete the Moggiebag quest as well. I have done the following with no luck
1. Spoke to Halver and Maat both with and without dinner suit. No change.
2. Zoned in and out several times and spoke to Maat. No change.
3. Waited til JP Midnight to see if issue was that. No change.
4. Tried trading the BLM Testimony anyway. No change.
5. Called GM's several times (they were no help). No change.
6. Tried talking to Maat with different job and then BLM. No change
7. Tried clicking on Maat several times. No change.
I am out of ideas, if anyone knows what i need to do or has some ideas, please let me know. Also i should note a lvl75 WAR that i play with, who has finished the Moggiebag quest and Shattering Stars, is also getting this repeated text and he can no longer re-challenge Maat.

I'm assuming you don't have your dinner suit on when you talk to him, right?
Did you try just going to your appropriate BC area and trading the testimony to the entrance? If that still doesn't work, then this might be a bug from the event and I'm not sure anyone on this forum could help you.
There is no need for anyone who's already beaten Maat on any job to talk to him in Ru'Lude again. They just go straight to the appropriate BC area and trade the testimony to the entrance.

Yes i have spoken to him alot with out the dinner suit on. In fact it has been long kept in my inventory for a while now.
Does anyone else have this text loop when they try to talk to maat. Does anyone else have this problem. GM's are trying to tell me its my characters fault and I got unfinished quests that are causing this.

Keep spamming the GMs. They have their heads up their asses. This is some kind of glitch you triggered because the only quests Maat offers are the Genkeis and the Dinner Suit event. You've obviously completed genkei 4 if you're level 70 and you have your moggiebag. The fact that not many people these days are running genkei 5 might be why this isn't wide spread or anything. This is game breaking for you and the GMs are obligated to help. Seems you're just getting lazy assed GMs. If you get another ********* just demand to speak to a senior GM. And yes you can also try just going right out to the BC (Horlais Peak in your case) and trading your testimony, but you're supposed to be able to trade it to Maat, so this is still a bug.

Again, did you try just going straight to the BCNM zone and trading the test there?

THERE IS A FIX
make sure you speak with the NPC in kazham again after getting moggiebag, you will get a message regarding anniversary. After that Maat NPC will turn back to normal.
