30 day trial means you keep your character and any accomplishments it did. You'll keep all your previous ranks without having to do anything.

The NPC that does your evaluations will keep you updated on your status. You can rank up once every 5 days; in fact that's recommended, since you have to learn less AN to qualify for a rank up. (I think the current formula guess is at least 4,000 AN prior to the 5 days ending, of which at least 2,000 must be earned through Campaign Battle.) The longer you wait to do an evaluation, the more AN you have to earn. If you keep on top of it and make sure you earn your 4K AN before the 5 days are up, you can climb through all 20 medals within a mere 100 days.

The NPC will tell you any of the following messages:

1. You can't get another evaluation for X number of days
2. The Allied Council was not pleased with your performance (less than 2,000 total AN earned)
3. While the allied council found your performance acceptable, they did not think it merited further honors (2,000+ AN earned, but less than 2,000 in Campaign Battle)
4. Congrats, you've earned a new medal (4,000+ AN in 5 days - or more if it's been more than 5 days)
5. The power of your current medal is too weak (30+ days have passed since your last evaluation.)

Rank ups are not solely based on AN. It's possible to get rank ups without earning a single point of AN, if you leech EXP off Campaign Ops that allow a party to participate (such as Slaughterhouse). This also means that you don't necessarily NEED to do CB to rank up, either, although for the higher ranks it certainly does make it easier.

But yeah, it is easier to gain rank early in the 30-day evaluation period (after 5 days, which is the minimum restriction) than it is to gain it when your 30 days are almost up.

I usualy just keep track of how much XP I've gotten through campaign battle/ops. I've conme up with this formula;

1k * (30 - 'number of days to evaluation')

Not sure how the formula is for keeping your current rank.

Higher ranks do require more effort to reach/maintain, too. But still, as long as you make sure to get the evaluation as soon as you can (5 days), you never seem to need more than 5k EXP or so, even for the highest ranks (and for the lower ones, you need even less).

OP you might find this interesting:

Please note this list is not set in stone. But it gives you a good idea what is needed to rank up. This list does not take into account that effort accumulated towards a promotion will decay slowly over time. Two people here already mentioned that.

Credit toward the next rank doesn't necessarily decay, but what DOES happen for sure is that the requirements to maintain your current rank & achieve the next rank go up over the 30-day period.

It's possible that both of these occur, but the latter is a definite.
