The Missing Piece (Teleport-Altep) isn't working :(Follow

I activated the quest, went to Quicksand Caves, found the ??? (at spot 5) and clicked it only to be told "Someone has retrieved whatever had fallen here." This was pretty annoying, took forever to visit all 5 spots. Anyone know what's going on? Again, I guarantee that the quest is flagged and active. If someone else gets the ???, it is supposed to instantly respawn. I did this quest with a WHM friend before, and when she clicked it, it disappeared and respawned.
